Blooming Botanic Houses

Clean, comfortable and friendly.

Pros: The property was lovely. Big, bright and airy. The host communicated with us early in the day and was very friendly and provided us with a lot of information. He then met us at the property when we arrived. A very nice chap. The rooms were spacious, bright and comfortable. Unfortunately the weather was not on our side but we felt happy to spend more time at the accommodation during the day then we had originally planned to. The view from the balcony out front was spectacular and we had clear sight of the sea and surrounding cliffs. The facilities were clean and tidy, the bed super comfy and the whole experience was great.

Cons: The road to the property is a little hazardous due to the incline of the hill. That is by no means the properties fault, more the topography of the area. The car parking was quite tight and we had to be super careful when manoeuvring the car around as it would have been easy to have struck the cliff/wall to the side of the parking area. Again, this is not an issue that the property and host can do much about, it is more a word of warning to be careful when arriving there.

Fantastic house with sea views and great host

Pros: Absolutely lovely little house overlooking the sea at Calheta with a great terrace with views and comfortable furniture to sunbathe and read and table and chairs for meals. Interiors also beautifully designed. Our host was brilliant. Great recommendations for sightseeing and eating - we just worked our way through the list and were never disappointed. First class stay. Small car is best for Madeira’s roads and tight parking. We would return in a heartbeat.

Cons: Nothing it was perfect

Pros: everything was as expected, a very nice little house, everything you need is there (even a torch for hiking tunnels..!), perfect place for 2, great location, nice terrace and small well maintained garden, quiet, clean, and a super nice and helpful host!

Cons: you really need to know how to drive a car on a steep road to get there - but that is probably true for all of the island of Madeira :-)

Relaxing and quality !

Pros: It was all amazing and we liked in particular the tranquility of the location. The house is really cozy and Jeroen is really friendly and nice, always available to help and advise. Thank you for everything

Pros: the place was very silent and cozy, had a big comfortable bed. We were allowed to check in earlier and check out later which was very useful when travelling with a baby. Got some really great tips from the owner, what to see, where to eat

Pros: Jeroen was super friendly and helpful. Spacious and clean interior with everything we needed in the kitchen. Lovely sunset and day-time views.

Excellent houses and an even better host

Pros: Jeroen was an excellent host and his houses are spectacular. Our group had a nightmare on the day of arrival in Madeira where we booked a villa on booking.com that decided on arrival that they couldn’t accommodate us without explanation. So, we booked Blooming Botanic Houses last minute and Jeroen made a special effort to ensure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Despite checking in to the property 10 minutes after booking, the place was perfectly clean, beautifully furnished and just what we were looking for. Jeroen provided excellent recommendations for restaurants and attractions, helping make our week wonderful.

Cons: Difficult to find issues with the houses but just some general points to be aware of, primarily the location. Situated in the lovely town of Calheta, the property has a wealth of attractions close by including great beaches, walks and restaurants but not many of these are easy to access by foot so a car is essential - particularly given the steep hills to get to and out of the property (not uncommon in Madeira!). Also, the houses are not huge but we found them a perfect size for 3 people - you get good value for money considering the quality of the furnishings, utensils, comfortable beds and beautiful terraces and gardens.

Pros: Very convenient new apartment, great modern design positively differentiating from other rustical homes. Well equiped kitchen, comfortable bed, lots of space. terrace with see view was fantastic

Pros: Beautiful modern, very well designed bungalow in stunning location.

Cons: Everything was perfect but be mindful access via car is a little tricky.

Beautiful house with a lot of love for details

Pros: Finally a charming place in Madeira with some thoughtful design and warmth. Everything was above and beyond expectations!! Looking forward to returning one day :)

Cons: Personally we were missing a washing machine after many days of hiking. I can see that being an issue for longer stays.
