Serene Haven Retreat - Madeira Island

Pros: The amenities, the appliances (good quality, working)

Cons: Lack of dishwasher, lack of underground parking space, it was cold in the apartment in the evenings, the heating device helped, but as it was a single small one, it was not possible to heat u0 the whole place

Exceptional stay – perfect location and peaceful atmosphere

Pros: We had a truly wonderful stay at Serene Retreat in Madeira and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The location is outstanding — peaceful and beautifully set, yet extremely convenient for exploring the island. The apartment itself was immaculately clean, very comfortable, and exactly as described. Everything was thoughtfully arranged, with great attention to detail, which made us feel at home from the very first moment. The property is clearly very well maintained and cared for. Thomas was an exceptional host — welcoming, attentive, and always available to ensure our stay was smooth and enjoyable. His hospitality truly added to the overall experience. Another great advantage is the proximity to amenities. Within walking distance, there are several grocery stores, local shops, and even a small shopping mall, making daily errands incredibly easy and convenient.

Excellent location to discover the whole island.

Pros: Clean, tidy, al lot of space, nice interior, two balconies and a well equiped kitchen. Located in the centre of a village with more locals then tourists. Everything you need is closeby. Easy parking. Kind and responsive host.

Very clean and beautiful. View on the ocean. Great location.

Pros: The apartment was beautiful and very clean. It had view on the ocean. The kitchen was well equipped. Location in perfect as it is 10min from airport and 20min from Funchal. Definitely worth the money. The only downside is the parking. You are not guaranteed you will get parking for free on the street, but you will always get one nearby for a hourly fee. The owners are also very friendly.☺️

Fabulous place.

Pros: This apartment was one of the best we have stayed in. It was spacious, immaculate, clean, and beautifully furnished. Beds were super comfortable, cannot fault this place, absolutely perfect.

Cons: Nothing to dislike.

Good place to stay close to Funchal.

Pros: Spacious, clean and well equipped apartment. On 3rd floor of block, with lift, and balcony with sea view. In small town near Funchal with good bus links and supermarkets, cafes and restaurants nearby. Owner met us on arrival and came again next day to bring a heater as it got cold overnight. Beautiful gardens attached to nearby hotel that you could visit.

Cons: We found the beds rather hard but may suit others.

Comfortable, clean apartment with all that you need & would revisit without hesitation!

Pros: The apartment was superb, very clean! Had a shower room and an en=suite bathroom. Lovely balconies (especially the living room one), spacious living & dining room. Supermarket was 3 min walk away. Canico had various shops including: pharmacy, hairdressers, restaurants, church, all within walking distance. I just wish I had more time to do a deep dive exploration of Canico. Funchal and the airport (in opposite directions) are less than 30 mins drive away. Really appreciated the various maps that were on loan in the apartment.

Cons: Having hired a car, it would have been even better if parking was guaranteed. Still, I managed to get parking right outside for 2 out of 3 nights. I also wish I could open the glass door in the second bedroom to let fresh air in.

Great apartment in Caniço

Pros: Absolutely great apartment. Very nice for family. Very good size. Good communication with lessor.

Fantastic

Pros: I had a really nice stay here. The apartment is very big, and very clean. The beds are very comfortable, and the kitchen is well equipped. The location is perfect for avoiding the hustle and bustle of downtown. There is a grocery store very close by, and a fantastic affordable sushi restaurant within walking distance. I was a little worried about finding parking, but it was actually very easy. There was always a free spot available somewhere very close.

Cons: There was a loud dog across the street that would sometimes bark during the day, but he was quiet at night.

Pros: L'appartement est spacieux, propre, bien équipé et joliment décoré. Notre hôte était très gentil et serviable et nous a suggéré de magnifiques endroits à visiter. Nous avons passé une excellente semaine sur l'île.
