Number 15 Ocean & City View Villas

An enjoyable stay in Funchal with space to relax and enjoy the views.

Pros: The view from the property and the interior design was excellent. Easy to access town centre and motorways. We didnt use the pool but it was beautiful. There was ample and secure off road parking. Support from the host was excellent.

Cons: It was a bit noisy from the traffic as above a busy road into Funchal. But I dont think that would put us off booking again.

Not cheap but worth it

Pros: We arrived a couple of hours before check in time and asked beforehand if we could drop off our luggage - no problem. The appartment (no 1, lowest of three) was spaceious (i estimate around 90 m2 & terrasse) and we liked the furniture. Parking was good and included. To go downtown or back we either walked or took the local buses. Just use Google maps for the departure times (irregular) AND be a couple of minutes early at the stop (if there is light traffic the buses run early). The pool looked nice but end of January ... not for us. Summary: Would stay here again.

A comfortable, modern base to explore Funchal and Madeira.

Pros: Great location with a stunning view over Funchal. A pleasant walk into the town centre and an easy taxi ride back if you don’t want an uphill walk. The apartment is modern and comfortable. Very spacious for a couple. The parking area is an essential element as parking in the streets of Funchal would be very difficult. The bed was large and very comfortable. A vey good base to explore Madeira. Communication with the owner Louise was excellent.

Cons: Minor elements only. There could be a bit more dishware in the kitchen to avoid using the dishwasher too often. Other similar properties we have stayed in had a few more essential items in the kitchen and bathroom. One night’s sleep was interrupted by the barking of dogs nearby (but as these were not the owners’ there is nothing she could have done).

Pros: A very clean, spacious, and well presented apartment, with a stunning view of Funchal. Close to the main roads, making it an ideal location as a base camp for exploring the island. Easy to walk into Funchal, or use Bolt to grab a taxi.

Excellent and we plan to return to Funchal.

Pros: The property was located quite close to the town centre so was walkable downhill. Walking back uphill in Funchal is a challenge but our host recommended a local taxi app which was inexpensive and easy to use. Our host was very approachable and gave advice where possible. This was appreciated.

Cons: We hired a motorbike. I am an experienced motorcyclist but while driving on the smaller roads is enjoyable it is a challenge and concentration is required.

A beautiful home base to explore Funchal!

Pros: We absolutely loved our stay at Number 15 - the views were stunning, the apartment was comfy and clean, it has A/C, and Louise is an absolute gem to chat with and get some local tips from. We actually decided to walk almost everywhere and leave the car at home (which is doable so long as you're ok with waking up steep hills!). Would book here again without hesitation!

Cons: It would have been helpful if some more necessities would be provided (eg. Hand soap for the bathroom, salt & pepper, paper towels, some additional Tupperware containers maybe) as we ended up having to buy quite a bit to make the most of our weeklong stay. This is no fault of the place or owner but the apartments are very close to a school or daycare so it got quite noisy during the daytime hours, but more reason to go explore I guess :)

Pros: Everything and more than expected l. Great host, Louise made sure we had all of the information on everything we needed to do and see. I would recommend this villa to anyone.

Cons: There is nothing we could say we didn't like

Lovely cottage

Pros: Louise the owner was very helpful and the cottage was very nice

Cons: Madeira has extremely steep hills and because it’s very tropical it has a lot of tiny mosquitoes that bite so bring spray, we used Bolt cab service all the time as very cheap and reliable

Pros: A fabulous apartment. Extremely spacious, very well equipped and spotlessly clean. The terrace with amazing views over the city and the sea was the perfect way to spend time for a lazy day or at the end of a busy day to enjoy a drink. Louise was so friendly and always on hand to answer any questions and provide hints and tips for where to go. I would definitely stay here again if we were returning to Funchal.

Cons: The apartment is up a very steep hill from the city centre, but it's very easy to get one of the regular buses or a taxi is just 7 Euros.

Pros: The villa is stunning. Comfortable and functional with beautiful art works, it was a joy to walk into. Beautiful views over the town and up to the mountains. The bed was huge and comfortable with nice soft pillows. A hairdryer was provided and a washing machine was available next door. The kitchen was well-equipped with everything you needed for a meal in. A container for food waste would be useful. The parking space was a huge plus. The walk to town was an easy 20 minutes downhill and Bolt was an easy taxi option for the return to the villa. The pool was great for a cool off. Louise was lovely and on-hand for anything that was needed. We would love to come back!
