Vila Toca

Big Fan

Pros: Clean, well maintained and well-situated accomodation in Funchal. Near shops, restaurants,seafront and bus system. Good, prompt communication with pleasant owner and fantastic cleaner - we wanted to take Maria home. If you like big/bling then maybe not for you - but if you like value for money in the centre of Funchal's hotel district, Vila Toca is for you.

Cons: Like many places, traffic is growing and can be a bit noisy at peak times if you leave windows open. And, like all of Madeira, access is a bit hilly, but can be avoided by choosing flatter routes.

Pros: The apartment was simply furnished and had all that we needed for a comfortable stay. Delighted that the apartment was serviced every two days and towels changed. The location in a quiet residential street was within easy walking of a busier area with restaurants, bars and some hotels. We liked the fact that it was not on the main tourist 'strip' and was within a 15/20 minute walk to the centre of Funchal.

Cons: The WiFi was intermittent on a couple of days which was irritating but not game changing as we had decent data options. Given the inland location, the sea view was really only a glimpse in the distance. But we overlooked the pool/garden area and the greenery of neighbouring gardens so sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine after a day's walking the levadas was very pleasant. Not a criticism but don't expect to be on the beach.

Pros: Room was nice, housekeeper was excellent, room was quiet with windows closed but busy road and proximity to the music school was a bit intrusive sometimes.

Cons: One chair had no springs and was uncomfortable and the bathroom sink was slow to drain, but otherwise ok.

Pros: Good location, good sized room. close to transport. Pool just outside room

Perfect two week hollidays for couple

Pros: Clean room, all kitchen accesories were there. Room service every other day. They changed towels every time and even washed our dirty dishes. Nice and clean swimming pool.

Cons: The noise from the street that goes uphill. But that is Madeira. If you close the windows, the noise doesn't bother you.

Pros: 20 min to the city center by walk. Close to a small supermarket and good restaurant. Enough space. Oil to cook breakfast.

Pros: Access to studio on arrival, the view, the location, cleanliness.

Cons: The access to the 4th floor studio but we will know to choose another studio at Vila Toca next time.

Pros: Great view, comfortable apartment, good windows isolation, big balcony!

Cons: Not much was bad, it's on top of a hill + the stairs, but you've got to walk in hills in Madeira

Comfortable bed & hot shower. Good location for exploring Funchal & pick ups for tours

Pros: Good shower, comfortable bed. Maria very helpful. The pool was small but welcome on hot days.

Cons: Room looked tired with stained fabric on chair & broken shower holder. Only small room service fridge.
