Place for a real Madeira experience.

Pros: It's a beautiful spot on the steep slopes of Madeira. Lovely walks in the area.

Pros: It has everything you need, it was clean and comfortable. Communication with the host was good. We got bananas from her own garden which was really nice!

Cons: Parking is in front of the accommodation, but for us the road to it was too steep so we parked near the church.

Pros: The host is the sweetest person you'll meet, all the facilities were bang on!! House was clean, there was parking, everything was in place! The perfect stay with the most perfect host!!

Beautiful property and wonderful host.

Pros: I stayed at this property for two weeks and it is absolutely lovely, as is the host. I have stayed at other rental properties in the area and this is, by far, the nicest house in the best location. The host is extremely kind, helpful and very welcoming. The place itself is spotless and you have everything you need for a peaceful stay. Ribeira da Janela is very quiet and the view from the house is stunning. There are two coffee shops in the area, one of which has a shop for basic food shopping. You will need a car to drive around the area, but the nearest town is only a few minutes’ drive from the house. My experience of the area, property and host couldn’t have been better. I had a wonderful time and plan to stay there again soon. Thank you very much to the host for making us feel so welcome and for maintaining the property in such a wonderful condition for the guests. Highly recommended!

At home on a tropical hillside

Pros: Located on Rib. Da Janela’s stunning tropical hillside, this place was a simple yet very comfortable getaway on the road. Especially the host, Vânia, made us feel very welcome and at ease — she helped out with a bunch, and we wanna thank her for that! Will be back.

Cons: Not being able to stay longer.

Beautiful location, cozy house, and nature all around

Pros: We had a fantastic stay at this lovely house in Ribeira da Janela. The place was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with everything we needed. We especially loved the peaceful surroundings and the beautiful nature all around. It was the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the quieter side of Madeira.

Cons: Everything was perfect!

Great base camp for hiking

Pros: Really well appointed ground floor flat with great views over the /valley (bedrooms have no windows / view, but didn’t matter in this case). Strong hot shower, kitchen well equipped with cooker/hob, microwave, Toaster and proper fridge/freezer. Host very welcoming and communicative throughout my stay, always willing to help. Bottle of complimentary wine, water as well as coffee and tea made me feel welcome from the moment of arrival. It’s quite remote you really need a car to get there and around, there is nothing in walking distance. Beware of google maps instructions - if it asks you to turn into a church yard and go up a road with steps, turn around, go back on the main road and drive up the hill: google will adjust and give you the right directions then. Also it can get quite wet on Madeira and as the houses have no central heating, it can get a little damp. The flat had a dehumidifier, a portable electric heater and plenty of fleece blankets to help with that.

A serene, soulful escape made unforgettable by a host who truly cares.

Pros: Vania is an exceptional host — she stayed in touch from the moment I booked and genuinely cared about my experience. The location is unbeatable, perfectly nestled between the magical Fanal forest and the stunning northern coastline. The property itself is a hidden gem — peaceful, spacious, and thoughtfully equipped, perched high on the hillside with views and privacy that make it feel like your own retreat.

Cons: Parking was a bit tricky for me as a relatively new driver, but Vania went above and beyond — she even took the wheel to help when needed. Without her, it would’ve been a bit stressful.

Pros: Nice cosy place kept well clean and dry inside. It's a bit of a search to find a place, don't take first road what google suggest think a bit :D

Very comfortable. A great place to rest after a (long) hike. Again, the host is simply wonderful

Pros: Beautiful location, very clean room, fully equipped. And especially the host makes a stay worthwhile!

Cons: The only downside is the remoteness. There is no restaurant or supermarket on walking distance. But the host helped us wonderfully! Much appreciated!
