Rabaçal Nature Spot Cottage

Pros: Very special place in the middle of nowhere in the nature. Beautiful house, room and terrace. Great Victor was very helpful.

Pros: The location - a the centre of a set of intersecting hiking routes, with a stunning view across a valley - is amazing. The rooms and service were top quality. The set up is a corridor with 4 rooms off it, and a communal living space and kitchen with a large balcony. We were a large party so had the entire place to ourselves - the staff leave after setting out dinner and breakfast - which was incredible. Not cheap, but worth it.

Everything for their guests

Pros: Staff are incredibly friendly and patient and the meal solutions are very flexible, you can basically eat when you want. The common areas are as cozy and welcoming as your own living room. Perfect spot after a long days hike. We called up front to reserve a parking spot and drove directly to the cottage. But going with the shuttle, would probably be just as easy. If you need anything, call and they will help you. E-maling is not working as well.

Immerse yourself in the forest without the masses

Pros: Exceptional location: between 6pm and 9am you can experience the forest with only very few other guests and without 'day-visitors'. Flexible lunch and breakfast concept gives you maximum flexibility for late afternoon or early morning hikes. Very (!) friendly and helpful staff!

What a beautiful gem in the hills of Rabacal.

Pros: Beautifully located with amazing views. Staff very welcoming and attentive. Accommodation comfortable and well appointed.,

Unique place in the middle of nature

Pros: Amazing location! Especially when everyone is leaving. The meal are very copious with a bottle of wine every night. A very warm thank you to Charles who is amazing!

Fantastic spot with amazing views, lovely staff

Pros: Right in the heart of where the levada walks with amazing peaceful forest and amazing views. staff were brilliant. Very helpful and friendly. Lovely cafe attached to the hotel

Cons: Access is tricky. The road down takes about 5 minutes but is a bit hair raising during the day as it's very windy and narrow and there's a lot of hikers on the road. The levada walks can get extremely busy

The best part of our stay in Madeira!

Pros: An amazing location with walks and the most beautiful views on the doorstop. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. Worked really hard to vary our meals and accommodate my mostly gluten-free needs (I can only have a little every day). We stayed Monday - Friday and loved it. Never got the car out. It’s busy in the day but you know this when you book it. We had one night where it was just us in the cottage and so we were on the mountain on our own for the night - so quiet! Comfy bed, great shower.

Cons: Nothing. Just a recommendation - if you’re there for a few days as we were - access to a washer dryer or a hanging rack would have been amazing. It was hard to dry clothes in the room as it was quite hot during our stay.

Perfectly located property for short stays in the nature

Pros: Perfectly located for surrounding hikes and super friendly staff.

Cons: No change of towels although there are instructions in the room. Personal contact with the staff is only short and only during breakfast and dinner times for a couple seconds. Lack of variation in the food. It’s fine for two days but gets repetitive after.

Pros: Wonderful location, walked to 25 Fontes before breakfast and enjoyed it without the crowds. Carlos and the team couldn't do enough for us. We really enjoyed our stay.
