Pros: Very spacious home. Great outdoor areas. Very responsive and friendly hosts. Appreciated being able to negotiate an earlier arrival time, given our flight times.

Cons: It's a big steep hill from town to the property!!

Pros: The house Is located in the garden, Very calm place in the heart od Funchal 🥰

Green oasis in Funchal

Pros: Comfortable, spacious house in a green oasis close to the center of Funchal. Beautiful views from balcony and garden. Excellent communication with Adelino, the host. Cleaning service for free twice during our 15 night stay. The kitchen has all you need to cook at home. Two bathrooms, both very convenient. If you love nature, gardens, and would nevertheless like to be close to town, than this is the place for you. A car would be convenient for the way up. Busstop and bakery around the corner. Do visit the vast orchids garden Boa Vista, literally next door.

10/10

Pros: A big beautiful villa with a large plot of land so even near the centre of Funchal you have privacy. A big grass terrace with loungers and a grill. A well stocked kitchen. Private parking.

Cons: One of the bedrooms had a private bathroom that wasn't separated by a door, just an open wall. It felt a little strange. Good for showers and brushing your teeth, not so good if you need to use the toilet.

Slice of heaven

Pros: Beautiful location, great hospitality. Close to city center. 3 rooms with beds. Very quiet and peaceful. View of the ocean. Its just stunning.

Cons: Nothing. There is a taxi app called bolt. Use it if you can't handle the hills. We sure did. The Netherlands is flat so we were not used to these hills. We want to come back. Its just everything we always wanted.

Pros: A gorgeous little oasis only 10 minutes walk from the centre of Funchal. Having the outdoor space with such a lovely view was a real bonus. Adelino and his father are great hosts and so helpful.

Cons: There is no air conditioning but this is not unusual for Madeira.

Pros: Perfect place to stay in Funchal. Very friendly host. Short distance to the city center, but nevertheless a quiet place, with a spectacular view.

Excellent place, will stay again

Pros: Great location, very typical house for Madeira but right in the city, lots of flowers and fruit trees.

Cons: n/a

Quiet house with a view and a garden

Pros: Spacious and quiet house, surrounded by a large garden with banana trees just outside Funchal center. Private parking on the driveway to the house. The master bedroom is huge and has its own bathroom (not separated by a door or wall) with excellent walk-in shower. There's another, older bathroom with a shower over a bath tub. The good thing about that one is that the hot water comes from a gas heater so it never runs out. Nice view towards the sea from the living room, the balcony and from the upper terrace. Excellent mosquito nets and blindout curtains throughout the house.

Cons: There's no supermarket nearby, so you need to go to the city center for all shopping. It can be done on foot, but streets in Funchal are steep so best to take the car and park in a garage. The only issue we had with the house is that the mattresses are too hard for our taste.

Highly recommended

Pros: Beautiful quinta located near to the old town, with a lovely garden surrounded by a banana plantation, passion fruit and papaja trees, looking at the ocean. The owner and his family were extremely friendly and helpful and told us a lot about Madeira, Funchal and the history of the property. A nice bakery and small grocery store at walking distance.

Cons: Everything was OK!
