Villa Palmeiras

Pros: The villa is very spacious. It has got balconies and a terrace. The 4 bedrooms are very big, 2 of them are en-suite. Excellent for a group of friends, as you get a privacy in a bedroom. The property is located in a quiet, residential area, with stunning views over the city. The walk to the city centre takes about 30 minutes, but it's a pleasant neighbourhood. Communication with the host was very good, we enjoyed our stay.

Cons: Nothing.

Amazing

Pros: Location is great, not too close to the city center but not too far! the house is well maintained, fully equipped, big, and makes you feel like home, we were sad to leave the place after 9 nights, we will come back to again one day!

Pros: The house is very spacious, ideal for friends and their children. It is surrounded by porches and a few outdoor' terraces, which made it very easy to be outside. You can see the sea!.There is toilet paper, a toaster, microwave and all you need to heat your food or to cook. The neighborhood is very quiet; even though it is ten mins to the centre by car, there are very steep streets to access the house (Funchal expands on its hills), so you would need a car, or to afford Uber and Bolt that work in the area. The tourist tax was not included when we booked the house but we were asked to pay €20. The internet connection was poor. In general we loved the house, quietness and privacy on this time of the year.

Pros: Lovely spacious house with excellent outdoor spaces.

Cons: Too far to walk to and from the centre of Funchal. House is a little old fashioned. Poor lighting in kitchen and living area.

Large villa with fabulous terraces and sea views

Pros: The house is very large, all the rooms are big and it has 4 bathrooms. The terraces are great, as are the views and we loved having the BBQ to each outside some evenings. It is in a very nice part of town. There was plenty of space for all of us and it was good value for money.

Cons: Unfortunately the house and downstairs terrace was filled with mosquitos. We bought some plug in mosquito repellants for the bedrooms which worked but had to always wear tucked in socks downstairs. We couldn't open the door to one of the bedrooms on the first night and thought it was locked and someone had to sleep on the sofa. The person looking after the property did come over the next morning and manage to open it. It was a bit annoying to have no dishwasher tablets or pods for the coffee machine until after going to the super market. You have to drive to get to any shops.

Amazing huge house with gorgeous views, beautiful outdoor spaces, and spotlessly clean.

Pros: Amazing huge house with gorgeous views, spotlessly clean and so much outdoor space. I travelled with three friends for a much needed girls holiday and we absolutely loved having a bedroom and a bathroom each. There was so much space as the rooms are a fantastic size, the house was super clean with excellent facilities. the house is in a beautiful street and the walk down into town was lovely, through really nice neighbourhood; it's too steep to walk back, but taxis and buses were very affordable and really quick. There was always hot water, and we could all take a shower at the same time to get ready to go out, which was great. The outdoor terraces upstairs were gorgeous, with stunning views over the city and mountains, we sadly didn't get to use them as much as we would have liked due to the inclement weather, but they are fantastic spaces. We were greeted with a Madeira cake and a bottle of wine on arrival, which was a lovely touch. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Cons: Unfortunately the weather was not great for the time we were there and the house was a little cold in the mornings, also there were dogs barking all night as they seem to be left in people's gardens at night, but ear plugs sorted that out. The downstairs was a little dark, but again I think this was due to the weather so couldn't be helped.

Pros: Extremely spacious and great that there are so many bathrooms. We were only expecting 1 bathroom but there are 4. Great indoor and outdoor seating.

Feel like a VIP in this huge, luxury property.

Pros: Location, host, and space were excellent. The property is huge, with gorgeous views over the bay and the port. The kitchen was well equipped and mostly everything was provided.

Cons: Some of the lighting fixtures did not work (kitchen, bathroom). If you leave food out, even for the shortest time, ants WILL appear (more our fault than the hosts). Can feel a little dark at times.

Pros: A really beautiful, very spacious villa with spectacular views. The location is nice for the view but you need a car to get around. You can walk to the centre of Funchal but the way back is steep uphill. The kitchen is very good and there is a lot of stuff to use. The house is very clean and the communication via whatsapp worked fine. We would definitely come back here!
