Our December stay was sunny, warm, interesting, restful and no car hire was needed.

Pros: Location of property with a lovely luxuriant but small garden was just off the centre of the town of Machico and this was ideal. It was very quiet. We had views of the valley slopes. There were supermarkets and cafes close by. There were walks from the house and the bus station was 3 minutes walk away. No need for a car. The beach was within walking distance. Very friendly, helpful and informative host.

Cons: It was all very good for us. Ideal

Lovely accommodation

Pros: We have fallen in love with this house and its garden! Even the kids were fascinated by the banana trees! The kitchen is one the best equipped we ever had when travelling and everything you want is at a few minutes away: the beach and 2 good restaurants are at ~5 mins by foot, a small market is at just 1 minute and 2 supermarkets at ~5 mins away. We went to rent a car at the closest place from the house ~8 min, and ended up buying 2 day trips and visiting the East and West parts of the island. Monte Palace in Fuchal is a must for admiring rows of hydrangeas and not only! Madeira exceeded our expectations!
