Doca Seca & Casca de Uva

A fantastic property that I strongly recommend

Pros: Very clean, tidy, and well equipped and maintained. It is located in a quiet beautiful location, with great privacy. The property is easily reachable by car from Funchal and it is perfectly located from many attractions. The property is run by Aqua Natura Bay hotel, which is a short distance from the property, if you need to have breakfast or any other meal. The staff were very helpful, approachable and friendly. Porto Moniz itself is quite a lovely, charming town with and most locals we interacted with were warm and friendly.

Beautiful small house, nice for a short stay

Pros: The house was very nice. It had everything you need. The kitchen amenities were very complete, even an air fryer. Location was good. Close to natural pools, shops, restaurants. Breakfast included in the hotel within 5min walk.

Cons: There was a problem with the airconditioning. It was not possible to turn it off or control the temperature. It was either very cold or hot, which was quite uncomfortable. We informed the reception about it, but we didn't get assistance during our stay. Second thing, less an issue as we only stayed for 3 days, but there was no change of towels.

Cool place which could use a few improvements :)

Pros: The apartment is quite fresh. Kitchen has everything you need. Living room is nice. Wifi didn't work, but they sorted it out within a few hours. There are 2 bathrooms, each with a shower. Though one of them is the same room as the bedroom (in a way, the bed is in the bathroom). Outdoor patio is useful and rather large. And generally - the hotel staff was nice and helpful.

Cons: 1. The bed is not very comfortable; have to agree with other reviewers. We've asked the staff for support and they fitted an extra comforted on top of it, which made it ok. 2. Apartment is missing some cabinets or wardrobes to put your stuff / clothes in/on. We had our stuff in suitcases on the floor, on chairs, etc. 3. In the hotel (which you can use - all amenities), the sauna/pool is rather old-ish, not the best. The new hotel's sauna/pool area is definitely nicer and has a view. Also, the gym works alright, but the only treadmill was broken for the whole stay, and there's nowhere else to run in the area (small town, elevation gain is huge if you want to a larger distance) -- this is a unique problem probably, but was a bit problematic for us.

Great place to relax by the ocean

Pros: The apartment is large, cozy, and well-equipped. Most things are high quality, and details are thought through. For example, there were 6 big towels for 2 of us, so we always had dry towels to take with us to the pools. The place has lots of kitchenware, which is helpful, taking into account that there are no good restaurants in the town. It is worth noticing that renting this apartment provides access to Aqua Natura Bay facilities, including the breakfast buffe and the spa zone

Cons: I didn't like the bed much. There were some threads in the mattress that were felt strongly under. Hard to describe, but it was uncomfortable, especially if the muscles were sore. Apart from this, small things, like a rather strange 2nd bathroom design, and the fact that you need to pick up the keys in the hotel This place also isn't cheap

Really nice place for 3 nights or more for a couple.

Pros: Great location. Very nice house with excellent facilities. Breakfast at Hotel down the street was good. Porto Moniz is big enough to feel comfortable but small enough to feel local.

Cons: Arrival instructions a little vague. Please provide more details about parking etc.

If its free, take it!

Pros: This appartement was excellent. Clean, new, modern, private, and cosy.

Pros: Privacy, great location, amenities(except for dishwasher detergent), silence at night

Well designed , comfortable apartment furnished to the highest specification.

Pros: Excellent apartment. Casa Seca is the lower apartment (where we stayed) with Casa de Uva situated above and at right angles to the lower apartment. The two apartments have independent entrances, Very well furnished to a very high specification . Extremely comfortable bed and high powered showers . . Great care and attention has gone into the design.The location of the apartment is in a quiet street with oblique and distance sea views. Easy walk to shops and restaurants.Ample and easily accessed parking spaces. Outside table/chairs and adequate space (large terrace and artificial grass) for sunbathing. The hotel where you check in is a short walk away and breakfast ( good) is available there, Heating system worked well.

Cons: Nothing, if this apartment was immediately overlooking the sea it would be one of the best places we have ever stayed! We have no hesitation in recommending.

Amazing house with hotel services as a bonus

Pros: Luxurious spacious house with private parking on site. David, Jessica, Margarida and other staff at the partnering hotel were all super professional, friendly and helpful. The place was immaculate, all amenities provided. Hotel services at your disposal. Delicious breakfast. Porto Moniz is small and quaint.

Cons: Absolutely nothing. Would stay here again (budget permitting...)
