Pros: The location was great, just on the outskirts of Funchal, with all we needed (restaurants, grocery shops) nearby. We had a sea view, heated pool, great wifi and a very attentive and friendly host

Pros: We travelled as a party of 6 including 2 young children and all loved the stay. Jan met us at the villa and was a very helpful host, the property was very clean and very well stocked, including plenty kitchen utensils and towels. The location is nice and quite with a supermarket and a some bars an restaurants on the street behind just a 5 minute walk. It’s also just a 5-10 minute walk down to the cablecar to the beach which is a very nice place to visit and only 10 minutes by taxi to Funchal. We are already looking at coming back here next year.

Absolutely fantastic! Didn't want to return home!

Pros: I felt very emotional the day we left! That was how amazing our stay was, we didn't want to leave! Madeira is an amazing island and Villa Hansen is in a perfect location, just 15 mins from the airport and then a further 15 mins to Funchal. Our host Jan, was lovely and very welcoming. He met us with the keys and gave us a tour of the property and came to say goodbye as we left. The villa is beautiful, has everything you need, beds are comfy and a well equipped kitchen. The pool was lovely, a bit cold at first but soon got used to it and I believe it's heated from October to April. Every day we would sit and gaze out to sea - so peaceful, a view you could never tire of! I would highly recommend this property for couples and families alike.

Cons: The only problem we had, which was nothing to do with the villa, was the mosquitos. They must have liked us as we got many bites. I would suggest taking plenty of mosquito repellent. The Jungle roll on worked the best for keeping them away. Jan also supplies plug-ins which help. Wouldn't stop me coming back though!!

Luxurious relaxing treat!

Pros: Fabulous spacious villa in a wonderful location. Jan was always welcoming, cheerful and helpful with many tips about local places to visit. The villa was spacious, clean, comfortable, well equipped with good quality furnishings and finishings. Jan has taken great care in renovating the villa so it all feels new and a special treat to stay there for a holiday. The private pool and outdoor areas were perfect to relax in after a day walking in the hills. Supermarkets and restaurants are just a short walk away. We didn’t hire a car but used taxis and buses to get around. There is a bus stop 5 mins walk from the villa with buses into Funchal for 2 euros each way. There is also a taxi rank next to the bus stop. We also used the Bolt app which is like Uber. I would highly recommend this place. We’ll definitely return - we’re already missing waking up to views of the sea each morning. Thanks Jan for a wonderful holiday.
