A beautiful house in the mountains you'll never want to leave

Pros: A beautiful house in one of the quietest little towns on Madeira. A perfect place for relaxation and enjoying the nature. (please note that Curral das Freiras, as beautiful as it is, may not be greatest choice of base for exploring all of Madeira, as it's sorrounded by mountains and only connected to Funchal to the south)

Cons: The bathroom could use some work, as water kept leaking out of somewhere and the floor was constantly wet.

Pros: Clean, modern, cozy and good help/contact from the landlord. Amazing view!

Cons: Comfortable double bed, less comfortable extra bed (when we were there).

Pros: Very helpful owners who kindly shared the useful links to the walks, restaurants, market and shops.

Lovely small house in the middle of mountains

Pros: We really enjoyed our stay at The Traditional House. The place is calm and peaceful, and also good starting point for hiking trail to Pico Grande. Beautiful views on the mountains surrounding the valley. The house is clean and there is everything you need - fully furnished kitchen, washing machine and two lovely terraces, where you can enjoy sunshine. The Traditional House is a place where you can witness real traditional life in Madeira, where local farmers are working on their terrace fields. Highly recommended for nature and mountain lovers.

Cons: The parking is challenging, but doable – a small car is highly recommended. The house, especially bathroom might get cold during nights, but if needed there are two portable electric heaters.

Lovely little house in Curral das Freiras

Pros: Lovely little house at the very end of Curral das Freiras. There are two terraces that let you enjoy the sunshine the whole day and the view is just breathtaking, as it the peacefulness. The house has two floors and is well equipped with washing machine and good internet connection. Communication with the owner was only online and very easy.

Cons: Bring some earplugs for the night as the dogs in the village bark all night. The on-site parking is a sincere driving challenge, it's very steep and extremely narrow so make sure you bring only a small car.

Beautiful house in the mountains

Pros: The house is in a lovely location in the mountains, it does take longer to drive places as you have to go down the road to funchal before heading round the island but there's walks from the place and it's so peaceful. The house is very clean and has a comfy sofa with a smart TV for netflix. The host was really nice and responsive

Cons: It was cold (in December) as there's only two little portable radiators

Pros: Fantastic, amazing place♥️ Beautiful, traditional cottage with modern elements. Fully equipped kitchen, large bedroom, washing machine also available if you plan a longer stay. We only spent 4 nights there, but it was enough to fall in love with this place. The outdoor terrace overlooks the mountains, an ideal place for breakfast and evening relaxation. A few minutes by car to the picturesque village of Curral das Freiras, where there are several good restaurants (I recommend the chestnut soup). What's more, the owner is very helpful, we did a self check-in but we had contact with the owner if we needed it. I can't say anything bad about this place, I love it and I will definitely come back ☺️

Ein wundervoller Ort zum Ankommen und Durchatmen

Pros: Unser Aufenthalt in diesem Ferienhaus war einfach perfekt! Das Haus ist liebevoll eingerichtet, ausgesprochen sauber und mit allem ausgestattet, was man sich wünscht. Besonders beeindruckt hat uns die ruhige Lage und der wunderschöne Blick – ideal zum Entspannen. Auch der Kontakt mit den Gastgebern war herzlich und sehr unkompliziert. Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt und wären gerne noch länger geblieben. Dieses Haus können wir uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen – es war einer der schönsten Urlaube überhaupt!

Cons: Leider hat es sehr viel geregnet, so dass wir die Terrasse leider nicht nutzen konnten

Pros: Schönes Häuschen in den Bergen, tolle und ruhige Lage, sehr netter Vermieter.
