Historic apartment with view across harbour close to amenities

Pros: Lovely location with a view out to sea. Shady terrace, more of a bonus in the summer but pleasant enough in December. Outside clothes line - much appreciated as nothing inside dried quickly. Windows had mosquito netting (which is good) so we could have them open all the time we were inside. Yes there are mosquitos in December! Supermarket is a 10 minute walk away - very convenient. Some Christmas decorations were up - nice touch. Airport bus stops at bus station in Av Caloustie Gulbenkian which is close by.

Cons: The information given prior to arrival was both confusing and time wasting. Video showing how to find entrance was OK. The email said there was a key code - which there turned out not to be the case after further email exchange. The 12-page pdf was unnecessary as it was at the house, but it wasted much time copying out the information (cut and paste disabled). The towels smelled strongly of soap, so we had to rinse them several times. Appreciate that maybe water is in short supply but reducing the amount of soap used in the first place would help.

Stunning, small, very private accommodation; ideal for a couple

Pros: The pool and outside veranda were both lovely and very private. Town and eateries are all walkable.

Cons: Air conditioning would have been a bonus, but wasn’t a deal breaker as the property was not advertised as having it.

Perfect if you want something private and different

Pros: This is a quirky old fashioned property not a modern bland one! The outside is glorious with its own unheated pool and patio area overlooking Funchal. Inside is antique and dark and full of character.

Cons: We did bring our own mosquito net as there is no air conditioning and sleeping with the window open brings mozzies due to the pine tree outside. There is no parking on the steep one way street.

If you value charm, history and character then this is the place for you. The perfect property for a romantic getaway.

Pros: Beautiful property with historical charm. While the facilities were a little worn, everything was spotlessly clean and staying here was like experiencing a piece of Madiera’s history. The view is lovely and the location is great for the main town.

Cons: The stairs to the bedroom are quite steep, so not suitable for the less able bodied.

Heavenly and private.

Pros: We loved the old style and antiques but the private pool and balcony are what really make it.

Cons: There are a few ants which is not surprising. Just keep your food in containers.

Pros: Lovely little house with lots of charm and character. Beautiful little garden/patio area and pool.

Schöne Insel in der Großstadt.

Pros: Perfekt ausgestattete Wohnung mit großer Terrasse und Pool. In der Küche war alles was man braucht. Schöne nostalgische Wohnung. 20 Minuten Fußweg ins Stadtzentrum. Es gibt auch eine Heizung, wenn es mal kalt ist.

Cons: Manchmal hatte es auch Moskitos in der Wohnung.

Urokliwy domek blisko centrum Funchal

Pros: Obiekt o wyjątkowej atmosferze starego domu. Urządzony z dbałością o szczegóły. Niewielka kuchnia i mała łazienka (większe nie zmieściłyby się w tym domku) - ale wyposażone we wszystko co potrzebne. W trakcie pobytu (ponad tydzień) sprzątanie, wymiana pościeli i ręczników. Bardzo czytelne przesłane informacje jak wejść do apartamentu - łącznie z filmem instruktażowym). Świetny basenik na jednym z dwóch tarasów.

Genoten!

Pros: De accommodatie is heel sfeervol en het privé zwembad is heerlijk. De ligging is ook fijn. Ook hebben wij erg genoten van de tuin die prachtig in bloei stond.

Cons: Het appartement is wel wat verouderd.

Pros: Küchenausstattung hätte etwas besser (kaputter Sparschäler, kaputter Korkenzieher,...) sein können und das meiste Geschirr mussten wir vor der ersten Benutzung selber spülen, weil es nicht ganz sauber war. Lage und Haus aber ansonsten top!
