Nice place to stay
Pros: Some rural charms right there. A large garden with hens and ducks, also a patio and adequate heating for the rainy days. Good kitchen, helpful staff. Clean and has everything you'd need. The place has a distinctive feel to it. Check it out.
Cons: Although we were warned about it, i'd put some yellow-black tape on the bathroom doorway for the odd chance when you forget. Forgetting to duck there will make you see the stars :D

Lovely stay in this beautiful traditional mountain villa.
Pros: The villa is really big and set in a beautiful garden. We especially liked the friendly ducks, chickens and rabbits! The location, in the mountain village of Santo do Serra, is perfect for exploring the north coast, Pico do Arieiro area and also close enough to Funchal. The inside of the villa has traditional decor which feels like stepping back in time. Our host Teresa was always very punctual when replying to messages and gave lots of information. We would definitely stay again.
Cons: There is a musty smell but this comes with such a property that it’s made with a lot of wood and located high up in the hills.

Pros: We really enjoyed staying at Villa. We stayed in a group of 4 people. The place has a cozy and a unique atmosphere. One can feel a spirit of history of Madeira. Our host welcomed us with a delicious cake and a glass of genuine wine. We took our time to enjoy a beautiful and peaceful garden with rabbits hopping on the grass and singing birds. This was a truly an unforgettable experience.
Cons: Keep in mind that this is an old house with all its pros and cons, which might not appeal to everyone. The double rooms are a bit cramped. A new frying pan would be useful.

Lovely old house with beautiful gardens
Pros: Nice house, beautiful garden and lovely animals (chickens and rabbits roaming the grounds). It was like staying at my grandmother's country house when I was young.

Like a time machine, in the best way.
Pros: Having lived in Portugal for a few years, I really love old fashioned Portuguese houses and furniture. This is almost a time capsule; it's like being transported back in time and yet the house is pristine, despite this the WiFi is still very good. The bedrooms and beds were very nice, and the living room was super cosy. The kitchen is very well equipped, the fire is lovely and we were left with plenty of logs, and we were also left a cake! We received an excellent welcome and would happily stay here again.
Cons: We stayed during a storm and in the winter, and it wasn't very warm but it also wasn't cold. All the rooms were equipped with heaters so it wasn't exactly a problem, and when it's winter what can you do, it's not going to be tropical! It almost adds to the cosiness of sitting around the fire.

Nice and in a strategic area
Pros: Dona Teresa, location, garden and pets. Absolutely amazing the welcome we received from Dona Teresa.
Cons: The house needs some renovation, keeping is old style. For example, the forniture in the kitchen, the heating and electrical system. The wifi was weak in some areas. Very important: if check out is at a certain time, this must be respected by both parties. Seeing the gate open when we were still in the house and seeing and cleaning lady walking around the house (nothing to complain about her because she was very kind), waiting for us to leave because someone had to come in before check-in time, was not very nice.

Antique villa with a beautiful garden. A bit dark but with a lot of history inside
Pros: -Beautiful garden -fresh eggs as welcome gift -many rooms -hot water -clean -new bathroom
Cons: pics are a bit misleading (the pic of the hallway is missing for example) because the house is a bit dark inside and we didn't expect to see a very antique house (but really, probably from 1800! with tile floor and antique decorations). However once you get used to it, it's comfortable. There's no dishwasher sadly
