Excellent Stay

Pros: Our stay at Villa Mar Azul was excellent. The accommodation was extremely comfortable, spotlessly clean, and very quiet, perfect for a relaxing break. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and efficient, making us feel right at home. Although the property is about 1.4 miles from the city centre, we really enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, and it’s only a pleasant 10 minute stroll to the beach. Overall, an excellent experience and we look forward to staying here again.

Great housekeeping staff who keep the [lace spotless.

Pros: The housekeeping staff are excellent. the equipment level is great in the kitchen. The brilliant beach is a 5 minute walk away with two lovely restaurants, We loved the one to the left and ate there three nights. We would stay here again quite happily. We used uber to get around.

Cons: The reception staff are at a different location, No nearby shop. A good information pack would have been useful. Shop opening times and local walks.

Perfect Stay in Lagos

Pros: I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Villa Mar Azul. The room was extremely clean, spacious, and well-maintained. I especially appreciated the compact kitchen, which made it convenient to prepare light meals. The staff was attentive, friendly, and always ready to help, which really added to the experience. The room also had a private outdoor area — a perfect spot to enjoy breakfast in the morning. The location is excellent, just a short distance from both the historic center of Lagos and the beach. For those renting a car to explore the Algarve, the hotel’s parking facilities are a huge plus. There is honestly nothing negative to mention. Everything was perfect, and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Lagos.

Pros: The facilities and pool were amazing and the housekeeper was excellent.

Great stay but ruined in the end.

Pros: Lovely and peaceful. Short walk down to the beach. Free parking on site available for a few cars. Ideal to have a car to get to other attractions and town centre.

Cons: Their main office is on a different site but you can call. However, It would be nice to know that beforehand. We wanted to extend our stay, spoke to customer service and agreed the extension and were told we can go anytime before our check-out time to make the payment. We then got a call in the morning just and were told that they had not secured the booking and someone else has also booked the accommodation and had to leave. This meant that we had to change our activities, find alternative accommodation which cost us double the amount as it was for the same day etc. They also offered us to move to another property on another site which cost significantly more. That ruined a good stay and left us really disappointed and

Pros: Clean and well appointed. Great bathroom, well kept building.

Cons: The location was a little far from the centre of Lagos to be walkable in the heat.

A charming stay with great location and character

Pros: We had a wonderful holiday and really enjoyed settling in for three relaxing days after travelling along the coast. The great location, the proximity to the beach, just a short walk away, spacious room with high ceilings and a large, comfortable bathroom, charming character made for a very pleasant stay overall.

Cons: There was a persistent background noise from the phone and fridge, which affected our rest. The kitchen was well-equipped with utensils and cabinetry, but lacked essentials such as coffee or basic spices for a short stay. Parking was supposed to be reserved for hotel guests, but it was always full, and we had to park outside the property.

Pros: Nice rooms and patio. Partial ocean view. Nice pool.

Cons: Shower water pressure very low, and water not always hot.

Pros: We spent a week here and it was perfect. The room was so nice, and we loved having the little balcony. Easy walk to a beautiful beach. We liked that it was out of town a little. It took us about 25 minutes to walk to Old Town, so it was a very quiet area. Lovely little coffee shop about 2-3 minute walk away and supermarket about 15 mins. Staff were exceptional.

Cons: Not meant as a complaint, but it would be helpful to have some basics in the room like salt, pepper & sugar.

Great for people who the most sandy beach beaches as they are only minutes away.

Pros: Had a real retreat real when returning from beach days. Location is perfect for the lesser used beaches.

Cons: The villa is not really walking distance to Lagos. Uber is only £4.50 so not an issue. However, the nearest shop is about a 20mins walk so getting supplies has to be planned out.
