Pros: The building is extremely beautiful and well preserved. The bedroom itself is very spaceous. Also, the location is good. It’s not too far away from the centre of Funchal, even though it is a very steep stroll (which would happen anywhere in Madeira). The parking slots inside the building is not big enough, but there is plenty of slots on the outside.
Cons: We didn’t have our towels changed nor the beds made, but if we asked the cleaning lady she would donit without any problem. So, it’s not expedict, but you can have the service.

Stunning building in a lovely location
Pros: It's an extraordinary building - you're walking into a piece of history. The kitchen works well for self catering and it's a great way to meet other people. Our room was beautifully furnished. There's a great little locals bar just up the road.
Cons: It's not the quietest building because it's all wooden and 1920s.

I truly and wholeheartedly recommend this place 💚
Pros: A very beautiful and cozy hotel with a soul. An ideal choice for those who want to truly feel the atmosphere of Madeira, not just have a place to sleep. Mornings here begin with birdsong and the gentle whisper of the trees. The hotel has over a hundred years of history — beautiful, authentic, and full of character. From the window, you get an incredible view of the ocean and ships passing by — something you can watch endlessly. There is a shared kitchen where it’s easy to cook, meet, and connect with fellow travelers.

Great villa rather close to the centre and the sea.
Pros: It was clean as well as the fully equipped kitchen.
Cons: It is rather cold at night, but that is normal as there are no heatings.

A charming house in a quiet area
Pros: The house is very charming, located within a walkable distance from the city centre in a quite area — great to get the taste of authentic life on the island, but with all the restaurants and cafés reachable within 20–30 minutes walk (the walk back up is very steep, which can be seen as a hindrance or a great exercise after food excess ;-)). The room was very clean and Carlos was always extremely helpful and kind, although we, sadly, didn't get to meet in person.
Cons: It didn't bother me that much, but whoever had the idea to remove the door separating the room from the bathroom... Not a great one :D Even though I stayed there on my own, I can imagine privacy issues unless you're on reaaaally intimate terms with your roommate. Also, the smell from the canalisation (inevitable in older buildings on the island, I assume) didn't help, and the room would turn into a steamroom after every shower. But that's literally the only downside, otherwise, it was great!

Pros: The house itself is gorgeous with a nice garden. The house is spotless with some interesting art. Carlos and all the team were lovely and helpful. The house is In a really lovely neighbourhood with a nice local bar and bakery nearby. A pleasant 20 min stroll downhill into town and €5-6 in a taxi home.
Cons: The only issue was squeaky, army style beds.
