Hostel on the Hill

Pros: Easily the cosiest “hostel “ I have ever been. It felt like being at home. The host was really sympathetic, you could feel the love he put into creating this hostel in every corner of the house.

Wonderful stay with even more wonderful people

Pros: I stayed at Hostel on the Hill while hiking the Fishermen’s Trail and would come back anytime. A really special, warm and welcoming space. Martijn and the volunteers who worked there were super helpful and kind, always up for a chat and also liked sharing a drink and some surf stories in the evening. Thanks for having me!

Cons: The hostel is located in Raposeira which means an additional hour of hiking when you come from Vila Do Bispo. You are much closer to Salema then to Vila do bispo where you continue the trail. That was a bit of a pain but we took an uber in the morning to get back on the trail.

Great stay that feels like home

Pros: Lovely place that feels like home. The host is amazing and very kind. Both the bathroom and the bedroom will stay in your mind

Pros: Amazing atmosphere! Martinj is a great host, he makes you feel like home, everything clean and that lovely dog❤️

Pros: We instantly felt at home in this cosy hostel. Definitely not like the typical steel bunkbed hostel. All the beautiful furniture gives so much character to the place. It was always clean and the beds are comfortable. Big bonus is the big garden, with multiple spots to be by yourself. Perfect spot for surfers or people who like small, more personal hostels. And on top of all that, there is Martijn aka thé best host who takes the time to talk to his guest and always advices them of where to go surf and the conditions, beter then whatever forecast online ;)

Cons: Honestly nothing!

I absolutely loved this hostel!

Pros: For me, it’s the perfect place to stay - whether just for a few nights or even a whole month. It has such an amazing vibe, and the interior makes you instantly feel at home. The volunteers were super nice and very attentive. The beds were super comfortable!! You really have everything you need: clean bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen with dedicated space to store your things, and plenty of cozy spots to relax. I couldn’t have asked for a better stay – highly recommend!

Cons: nothing!

Pros: I was supposed to stay for just one night, but I changed to 4 nights, because this hostel is a real gem. The owner and the volunteers are very kind people, everything's clean.

Pros: This place has a great vibe I felt instantly at home. The way it’s furnished is incredibly cosy, and everything was clean. Martijn, the owner, is warm, welcoming, and just a chill laid-back guy. I was also lucky to be there with a group of really lovely people, which made the experience even better. I only stayed one night, but I would’ve happily stayed longer.

Pros: Felt like home. The owner was really friendly. Everyone who stayed here was extra friendly too. Really enjoyed the view and atmosphere.

Excellent stay, most certainly coming back.

Pros: Location and proximity to different beaches and other venues. Very flexible and kind Host.

Cons: There was nothing to dislike.
