Edificio Charles 101

Great location and good value for money for a short stay

Pros: Great location, very central and close to all the main sights in central Funchal.

Cons: Nothing much really, the facilities and building were great. A good addition would be a safe box inside to keep valuables as a door code is used for access. but the location itself is very safe

Great location for a city stay

Pros: Location was excellent, very clean and well equipped in the kitchen. Easy to use codes for entrance into the building and our room. Quiet place apart from the loud chatting and singing in the day time, but peaceful at night. We could leave our bags when we checked out and could collect them later. Great place to stay overall.

Cons: The bed was really hard, impossible to get comfortable, people singing (performing) in the square every day around 4-6pm, just when we wanted a bit of a snooze, and the cathedral bell rings every quarter between 8am and 8pm

Pros: It was great being in the centre of town and being close to good restaurants, cafes and bars. All the sights in Funchal could be easily reached on foot ( with some cable car rides) . The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable with a great bathroom and the kitchenette was good enough for a week's stay.

Cons: Being right in the centre of town could be a bit noisy at times. During the day, the noise from the road outside could be quite loud from time to time. There were also street performers and while the performances were good, they had their amplifiers turned up high ! It didn't bother us too much but if you enjoy quiet afternoon naps, this might not be the right place for you. Generally, the noise level at night was ok.

Pros: This is my 2nd stay in Edificio Charles this year (101 and 103). One for carnival and this time for the flower festival. The staff are so welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. The apartments are spotlessly clean with comfy beds, great kitchen facilities and a really nice shower. Door code makes it so easy, no lost key worries. Aircon very welcome and works well. Look forward to returning. It's in a fantastic central location. To be walking distance to so many activities without worrying about parking or getting bus etc is a big plus for me.

Cons: You do hear street noise but actually slept so soundly. To be expected in a city centre but does not put me off coming back again.

Pros: A little noisier than expected due to single glazed balcony windows but made up for with central location. Great spot for eating out but well equipped for eating in. Welcoming entrance and lift to room was perfect.

The perfect stay

Pros: The host texted the information about the room and the door code. Liked that didn’t have to carry cards or keys. The bottles of water in the room was a great idea.

Cons: There wasn’t one thing I didn’t like. It was perfect accommodation.

Perfect location

Pros: We were leaving our rental car back at airport and we were allowed to drop our bags off early. It saved us a lot of hassle

This was my second time staying in this apartment block. Can’t fault it. Absolutely perfect.

Pros: Absolutely fabulous location, spotlessly clean and fantastic value. What more can you ask for?

Pros: Top stay. José was a great host and very helpful with any questions we had. The location was excellent, the room itself was lovely and very clean. The stay exceeded our expectations. Thank you :)

Uma agradável surpresa , a repetir

Pros: Excelente surpresa , excelente localização, muito confortável e bem equipado, limpo , simpatia da equipa de manutenção, a voltar sem dúvida

Cons: Deviamos ter ficado mais tempo
