Best place to stay in Funchal

Pros: It was probably the best booking experience ever Akira and his wife were very kind and helpful, the view from a terrace was breathtaking in the evenings The apartment has absolutely everything you can wish for as a hiker, it’s well equipped and has washing powder and a washing machine even had a dryer! I loved every moment of my stay and would definitely stay again

Excelent place to stay

Pros: Excelent location, nice hosts, perfect parking for the car. Wonderful view at the city and harbor from the balcony

Cons: Would have been everything at 10 if a dishwasher was in the kitchen - a very small drawback

We had an excellent stay in Madeira. Will stay in this place again if we ever come back to Madeira.

Pros: The hosts tried their best to accommodate us on an early check in. They were very nice and helped us plan our day before we were able to check in. They made sure they are available in case we needed help.

Pros: The view over the city to the sea is fabulous. The terrace is a good size. The apartment is very smart and well equipped. The furniture is quite comfortable. I could happily live there, if it was easier to go to the local shops and restaurants. .

Cons: With my physical problems, it is not easy to get around, and we had to use taxis all the time to get into town. We hired a car for trips out of town,and my partner had to manage some pretty scary climbs.

Would recommend

Pros: Akira and his wife were very helpful and easy to contact and they showed us round the apartment making sure that we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The apartment was spotlessly clean and had a lovely balcony with plenty of seating choices. There was an underground garage for parking which was great and across the road there was a lovely pool which we had to ourselves most times we went down there. You get good views over the city and down to the harbour and in the evening it was pleasant watching the sun setting. We walked down to the main tourist areas several times which takes about 15 minutes and even walked back up which is very hilly and takes longer, but we didn't mind this though most people would probably get a taxi.

Cons: Although Akira did warn us the day before we arrived and could not foresee this problem, unfortunately there was some building work going on a few hundred metres down the hill which went on for about 10 hours a day (apart from Sunday) and it was noisy, so when we were in the apartment we didn't feel like sitting on the balcony . I know this is no ones fault but it spoiled the enjoyment a bit. As it was very hot in the apartment it would have been nice to have air conditioning. I would still recommend this penthouse apartment as the pros outweigh the cons, and when the building work has finished it will be perfect.

Outstanding!

Pros: We loved our stay at this luxurious apartment in Funchal. We opted to take a taxi organised by the owner from the airport. A 15-minute drive later we were there - just inland from the centre. The property is a ten minute walk from the centre and coast - all downhill. There is an abundance of atmosphere in the city, which is steeped with history and wonderful eateries. We chose to eat out and explore during the day and spent the later afternoons and evenings on the balcony overlooking the port. For us, everything we needed was provided - from a made-up bed to cooking utensils as well as everything in between. We intend to return!

Cons: Very little not to like - just be aware that walking downhill into town is easy - but I recommend a taxi for the return trip! Taxis are good value in Funchal - with the return being around €5.00.

Perfect Funchal apartment.

Pros: Honestly, in our opinion this is THE place to stay in Funchal. Akira the host is an absolute gentleman, nothing is too much trouble and he's a pleasure to talk to. The apartment is a home from home, you'll want for nothing. It's a perfect place to stay and enjoy.

Pros: Everything about this property was amazing! The location, the incredible view, clean, quiet, secure but, without a doubt, the best thing was our host. Akira was excellent! Super kind and helpful.

Pros: Everything .! All we needed and more were supplied by Mr Akira . His wife and self ,weekly contacted us to see if there was anything we needed or any problems ,which was appreciated. The views from the balcony were amazing . The recommendations for restaurants and bars was utilised and we enjoyed them very much . The owner and his wife were well thought of when we mentioned we were staying in their apartment . If in Funchal again we would definitely try to book again here.
