Quinta Devónia by An Island Apart

2 weeks stay in paradise.

Pros: Amazing view. Great location because it's easy to get to Porto Moniz, Seixal and other locations. Super close to Pico Do Arieiro. Super close to Funchal (the center) too.

Cons: The bathroom is a bit old and needs renovating. The way up to the accommodation is a bit difficult and dangerous. You need a car (it's hard to get a taxi from this place) Lots of bugs and lizards.

A jewel we will return to

Pros: The is second time we rent one of theese 3 small houses. Its like staying alone in a botancal garden. The view is stunning. The houses are charming. Bus no 29 have stop nearby and a we enjoyed the fragrance of the surronding ecualyptusforest while waiting for the bus to downtown. We returned in the evening with a 10euro Bolt taxi. It was using very steep narrow roads, as google map suggested.... We have stayed at numerous places on this island, but this is a clear winner. We rent here next time too. We prefer the two bedroom house, best view there.

Cons: Terrible or Easy access by car! Google map will send you for the terrible route unless you insert three intermediate destinations. After highway from airport, insert a first destination at ER102 after that have splitted form highway, then one at where ER201 splits from ER102. Then one at north side of fotballstadion. Follw the road down along westside of stadion and take 1. To the right (u turn) and you are in the street. 4. Destination can be address for Quinta Devónia. Way more should have rented here, if they knew there is an easy acces to this jewel... Mold, there is a smell of mold in bathroom (both houses) and partly other placese too. We opend windows. Kithchenware was new, but no matches for the gas owen. Matresses good. Barking dogs in neigbourhood; now and then, but not very loud, we closed window at night, but had earplugs with us, which we did not use. In the one bedroom house there are two indivual beds which separates... When we rented that four years ago, we used ropes to tie bedpost together. Bring two ropes if you are romantic and rent that house.

Very good, weather was fab.

Pros: Location was really good. Gardens lovely. Locked ourselves out and the agent came to our rescue. Excellent instruction for entry and we found it relatively easily.

Cons: Beds should have been bolted together. Linen poor. Crockery and cutlery haphazard. No oven and not permitted to use BBQ. Shower leaked.

Piece of paradise

Pros: The location, terrace and garden, the view, cozy cottage interior, size of the cottage, quietness, comfortable beds.

Great with rental car

Pros: Great place, fully equipped, amazing view, very quiet (I don’t know where the comments regarding dogs come from).

Cons: Only point to keep in mind: take a rental car and don’t follow Google Maps. Use the twisting road instead of the straight one. If using the straight road, first gear all the way is your best friend! Bolts are easy to go to the house but can be difficult to go back down to the city. But honestly possible without rental car.

Séjour agréable mais un peu loin de tout.

Pros: La quinta offre une très belle vue sur la nature et l'océan. La maison est très agréable. Un peu vieillotte mais ce n'est pas dérangeant. La cuisine est très bien équipée.

Cons: La quinta est vraiment très isolée. Sans voiture c'est compliqué et les chauffeurs de taxi ou Uber ne trouvent pas l'adresse. Il n'y a rien à proximité (supermarché, boulangerie ou restaurant).

Pros: Due tolle Gartenanlage, die Aussich, die Terrasse.

Cons: Es haben Geschirrtücher gefehlt.

Relax a funchal

Pros: Pace, silenzio e relax. Ottima posizione a funchal in collina fuori dal casino della città. C’erano sempre almeno 5 gradi di differenza tra funchal e la casetta, si stava benissimo. Giardino e casetta piena di fiori con vista mare. Una meraviglia

Cons: Per chi cerca relax è il posto perfetto. Tuttavia il bagno sarebbe da rimodernare. La nostra casetta era senza finestra in bagno e non funzionava il ricircolo dell’aria. Quindi bastavano appena 5 minuti di doccia che diventava una sauna. Non funzionava il riscaldamento del cottage quindi la casa è fredda. Il primo giorno abbiamo avuto problemi con l’acqua calda che diventava tiepida e poi tornava subito fredda, contattato l’assistenza è stato risolto in pochissimo tempo.

Werde sie nächstes Jahr wieder buchgen

Pros: Sehr schöne Einrichtung mit großer Liebe zum Detail. Schöne Aussicht auf Madeiras Hauptstadt. Super Heizung und klasse Trocknungs möglichkeiten für Wandersachen. Ein größeres Schneidebrett und zwei zusätzliche scharfe Messer wären super.

Pros: Das ganze Anwesen der Unterkunft waren wie auf den Fotos wirklich sehr schön und die Aussicht war traumhaft.

Cons: Die Matraze in unserem Bett war uns beiden leider zu hart. Außerdem hat man nachts lange Hunde belllen gehört, wofür die Unterkunft jedoch nichts dafür kann. Das Bad ist etwas klein aber wie auf den Fotos.
