Casa do Amigo

Niggles & disappointments: a few. But would we stay at Casa do Amigo again? YES!

Pros: The location. The outside space. The off-street parking. The internal layout. The kitchen layout. The presence of laundry facilities. The towels & bedding. Regarding the off-street parking, during the first two days of our stay Seixal seemed flooded with day-trippers with their cars, so our off-street parking was a real plus. Our hire car was an Opel Corsa and was reasonably easy to reverse through the gates into the front courtyard. Anything much larger would have been difficult or impossible.

Cons: No wardrobe or hanging space. No dishwasher or dish-washing cloths, sponges etc. Unclear instructions for using the TV. COMMUNAL REFUSE/RECYCLING BINS DIRECTLY OPPOSITE THE FRONT GATE!! (People dumping their refuse etc into the bins until late in the evening; bin men emptying the bins early in the morning!)

Great stay in a lovely house. Good base to explore the north west. We did many hikes from here. Stunning coastline.

Pros: Spacious, well equipped and great proximity to the black beach. Parking on site. Lovely view of water from bedroom. Well equipped with good quality items. Natural pool was lovely for a swim albeit cold.

Cons: Main bed mattress extremely firm which some people will love but uncomfortable for us. We found dining out to be hit and miss in the village, so we ventured out to neighbouring towns. Street rubbish bins stored directly across the road from house.

We enjoyed the beautiful location and easy access to the beach.

Pros: Ana Maria was easy to contact and gave us a very warm welcome. The house was very well equipped and comfortable with stylish furniture and everything you need for a short stay. The view over the sea and mountains was stunning. It was a useful location for the beach and the town with a supermarket and restaurants nearby. Seixal lies on a main route, so other parts of the island can be reached with ease.

Cons: The house looks out onto a road, so there is some slow traffic to and from the beach.

Beachside accommodation

Pros: The accommodation was situated in a great location, only a short walk away from the beach. It was well kept and very comfortable.

Very nice and pleasant place to stay - comfortable and well equipped apartment.

Pros: Extremely nice and comfortable place to stay. The host was so nice that she waited for us although our flight was delayed and we arrived one hour after check-in time. She showed us the apartment and even bought some small goods for dinner to be sure we don't stay hungry until morning. She upgraded the opening hours during Christmas time of the market nearby for us and had many other useful recommendations for our vacation. The apartment has everything you need, including washing machine and dryer. One of the best place we have stayed.

Pros: The host was very friendly and helpful. The house was equipped with everything you might need (kitchen appliances, utensils, tea and coffee, towels, duvets, toiletries) and even some extras, it was very cozy and beautiful. There's a free parking lot right outside of the gates which is very comfortable. The black beach is 3 minutes walk away. And of course the best thing was to wake up in the morning and look out of the bedroom window and see amazing mountains and ocean view! The view alone was worth it.

Cons: The only drawback was that during our stay the weather outside was rainy and the house was a bit humid, so the clothes/towels were not drying well. That wasn't a huge issue since the house has a drying machine, but unfortunately you can't use it for every kind of clothes. But that wasn't an issue on a sunny day.

Schönes Haus in bester Lage am Meer.

Pros: Die Lage zum Strand. Das Haus im allgemeinen. Parkplatz auf dem Grundstück.

Cons: Schlecht eingestellte Wohnungstür. Spülung der Toilette läuft dauernd in beiden Badezimmern. Kein Staubsauger.

Pros: Veľmi útulný príjemný čistý domček hneď naskok od pláže.

Séjour d'une semaine à Madère

Pros: Ana Maria est disponible, toujours atteignable et très serviable. Vous pouvez sans problème lui faire confiance pour votre logement à Seixal.

Pros: Bien placé et la place de parking dans la cour était pratique vu l'emplacement de la maison

Cons: La vaisselle n'était pas en nombre suffisant.
