Funchal Apartments - New Botanic Garden Petit Studios

Good for short stays, wonderful view, cozy and good value

Pros: Good location, only issue was with parking, but, as we only stayed a few days over the weekend, it was ok, but during busy weekdays it can be a problem. Close to a wonderful bakery, got our breakfast there every day, within walking distance also supermarkets and shops.

Cons: Very noisy from the inside of the building (internal corridor, it seemed) late at night.

Pros: Good location for amenities such as two small but adequate supermarkets, cafe, pharmacy and bus travel.

Cons: No major dislikes. Parking could be a problem on the odd occasion, but always available somewhere. Thin walls between the apartments were sometimes an issue, but not major.

Very comfortable and clean

Pros: Everything was perfect! The room was clean and comfortable, the location was great, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The facilities had everything I needed, and the atmosphere was really relaxing. I had a wonderful stay and would definitely come back !

Nice but loud

Pros: Very helpful host, we were able to check out till 8pm. Nice view. Good location but better for people with car.

Cons: Appartment was next to the rushy road. Cars and bikes was really loud every part of the day and night as well. So if you need silence for fall asleep there you will have a problem. Or you will need good earplugs.

Very comfortable and close to the city center

Pros: The studio is quite big and has all the amenities. It's close to the city center as well as a supermarket, pharmacy and bakery.

Cons: It literally has no window, just a skylight, so the studio can't be ventilated properly. The walls are a bit thin and you can hear the neighbors perfectly.

Pros: We had everything we needed and communication with the host was great. He was super kind.

Petite Studio

Pros: It was affordable, comfortable and only a 30 minute walk into the centre. The location, whilst being on a bus route, was fairly quiet over the weekend and there were 2 mini markets and an excellent cafe practically next door.

Cons: The walls were paper thin and could hear neighbour’s phone conversations in the early hours.

Nice apartment with lovely ocean view

Pros: The check-in instructions were clear, and the host was very responsive and helpful. The apartment was basically clean and had all the essential equipment we needed for our stay. The view from the terrace was lovely — we really enjoyed looking out at the ocean in the mornings and evenings. It’s a peaceful area, especially at night and in the early morning, even though the street is a bit busy during the day. We also liked having little shops and a bakery nearby, which was super convenient. Parking was a bit tricky — we usually found a spot in front of the nearby shops (paid on weekdays and Saturday mornings), and the other nearby parking area was often full. Still, the host did explain the situation, and it might usually be easier to park right in front of the building. Overall, a nice base for exploring Funchal and Madeira, and we’d book again!

Cons: The apartment felt a little bare — maybe it’s new or still being set up, but it could use a few homely touches like curtains or some decoration to make it feel warmer and more inviting. The bedroom had just the basics (bed and wardrobe), and the kitchen had the essentials too, but it felt a bit empty.

Pros: The location is good but we suggest taking rent-a-car in order to travel around the island. There are bus stations in front of the building (and direct connection to the airport) if you want to go by bus. There is also free parking nearby (less than 1 min away) if you have rent-a-car and groceries store, bakery and pharmacy.

Cons: Cleanliness, the floor was not very clean, as were the dishes, which had traces of previous use.

We liked apartment very much! Fully equipped. Excellent location, happy to come back in the future!

Pros: The location, handy supermarket, bus stops, pharmacy, and bakery are very near.

Cons: No window in my bedroom and a coffee maker with plastic capsules.
