Pros: Spectacular views and spa facilities (pool, sauna, jacuzzi). You can see the mountains and the valley from the pool, jacuzzi and sauna which is amazing.
Cons: The spa facilities close already at 7pm which is way too early (especially if you check-in late). Sauna should be included in the room price.

Lovely place -recommended
Pros: Nestled high up on the mountain about 25 min away from Funchal it has breathtaking scenery. There is a sauna, steam room (separate charge) pool and jacuzzi
Cons: Without a car you’re a little bit stuck and reliant on taxis. Also can get a bit chilly- where as on sea level it’s pleasant (went in October)

Exceptional! Definitely visit if going to Madeira
Pros: Exceptional place! From start to finish we loved our stay! Perfect view of the mountains from everywhere we stood. Amazing route down into the small villages below — the views are incredible ! The spa and the gym were great too - we had it to ourselves! Thank you for the most enjoyable stay , lovely staff

Pros: Excellent location, the manager is kind and pleasant, there is an employee at the reception who also prepares breakfast, who is unpleasant, does not smile, seems angry all the time, which affected the quality of the stay at the place

Mindblowing view on the mountains
Pros: The view on the mountains blew us away. Our room had an enclosed balcony with seating area and sliding door which we left open. We could see two peaks (Pico Grande and Pico Ruivo) on which we stood in the last 3 weeks. Grande was a hectic but enjoyable hike. From those peaks we also spotted the hotel which is the highest on Madeira. Very clean and friendly staff. We walked down to the Nun’s Valley for a coffee and back up again. Up is better than expected as the steps aren’t that high. The area is very peaceful even with tourists coming to the lookout point. The rooms face the other way and we had no problem to get parking. On the 2nd day we drove down the mountain to go swim in the sea and it was only 30min. There is also a nice mall and Decathlon about 20min down the mountain if you need anything. We are very happy we included these 3 nights in our planning.
Cons: The rooms aren’t soundproof and you also hear people in the corridor and diningroom. The breakfast is very basic. Some cucumber, tomato and greens would be nice before eating protein.

Pros: A stunning location — a peaceful spot surrounded by incredible natural beauty and total relaxation. The hotel itself is quite old and could use some renovation (the lobby, restaurant, and rooms), but that doesn’t take away from the overall experience. The spa area is large and spacious — they could place a bigger pool. The view from the restaurant and from the room — that’s what you’re really paying for — and it’s absolutely worth it!
Cons: The gym and pool open at 10 AM — right after breakfast (served from 8:00 to 10:00), which doesn’t really make sense. It would be much better to work out before breakfast — plus, the area doesn’t need extra staff anyway. It would’ve been amazing to exercise in the morning with that gorgeous view, then head to breakfast. There’s only one restaurant, but the menu is varied and the food is tasty. Prices are on the higher side — probably because there’s no competition nearby.
