Quinta Funchal Gardens - Adults Only

Pros: The staff were great and helpful, the bed was large and comfortable.

Cons: The extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work. Not a nice walk to the old town.

Fabulous two weeks stay

Pros: It was very beautiful and very spacious. The outdoor terrace was elegant and the 3- level pool was absolutely wonderful and elegant.

We loved our stay and felt very well taken care of!

Pros: Views were amazing - we could just stare for hours out of our room window/small garden, rooms clean and beautiful, restaurant staff was great! Breakfast was excellent!

Cons: Pools were supposed to be heated, but they were cold. Location bad for walking - no pedestrian ways and verry narrow road, but the Bolt taxi to town was cheap.

Pros: The stay was excellent, we only had breakfast (gluten free options, also bread but not every day), because dinner and lunch are from the menu, where there is not such a large selection of dishes. The room was clean. The service and people were great

Cons: the noise of the recuperation was annoying, which was only turned off for a few hours at night, the light from the hotel corridor penetrated the room quite significantly.

Great hotel, amazing conditions!

Pros: A great hotel, 30 min walk from old town, with breathtaking views on the city, especially from the restaurant terrace. Clean, quiet, well located, good service, nice people taking good care of you. Highly recommended!!

Fabulous hotel in quiet lush gardens

Pros: The colonial style hotel was beautiful , pool area fabulous, breakfast and restaurant excellent, room was comfortable , clean and had a fabulous view from balcony, with view of sea , mountains and lush gardens, reception staff were very obliging and welcoming .

Cons: Bath in bathroom was very narrow, hard to get out of !Although pool area was fab , getting service was difficult. Felt that hotel had already gone into low season mode , despite weather being great! Getting into town , 20 € round trip , too far to walk!

Charming character hotel

Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is not too big, so has a lovely calm feel. Rooms are lovely, clean and well equipped, with a small balcony . Beds are large and very comfortable. Shower pressure is very good. Good to have pool towels in the room too. Pool terrace and dining terrace overlook the town below. The breakfast buffet was exceptional and hot food can also be ordered.

Cons: As other reviews had said, the road is too dangerous for walking to town. However, Ubers are plentiful and cost approximately €5 to the old town, where many restaurants are located. Dining on the outside terrace is disturbed by visiting pigeons - often best to stay inside. Sadly the hotel is due to close for refurbishment next year and I fear it may become too modern.

Beautiful, comfortable, peaceful hotel with helpful staff and stunning views.

Pros: The staff were lovely and very helpful. The room was big and had a superb view. The room was cool, quiet, and comfortable with a huge, comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent with a huge choice of food available and wonderful views. The gardens were lovely and the pool was good too. The gym was well-equipped, though, unfortunately, the treadmill broke while we were there. We found the food in the restaurant to be excellent.

Cons: The steep hill down a narrow, quite busy road to the town made it a bit difficult to get out and about as much as we would have liked without a taxi.

Pros: Gardens are wonderful, views astonishing. I enjoyed every sunrise
