Quinta Mirabela - Design Hotel

Very beautiful views and great facilities

Pros: the staff are very professional and the hotel is in a beautiful quiet place out of town, closer to the mountains and the beautiful gardens. The facilities are really nice from the spa to the patio with stunning views. There are lots of comfy seats to sit in the sun. The hotel offers free shuttle to the city on weekdays which is very helpful.

Cons: The hotel tried to charge us for half board after we ate at the restaurant for one night, even though we paid our full bill at the end of the meal. Despite the 5 star rating, the staff was sometimes not super helpful or friendly. I would say they are more trying to appear fancy and professional but it didn't feel like we were having a normal conversation with another human. Also it's sad the shuttle does not operate on the weekend, which was half of our trip!

Pros: Outstanding breakfast, very kind staff, beautiful view. Has free parking.

On top of the world

Pros: The hotel was very quiet as out of season. The staff were helpful and attentive. The location was a bit more of a challenge up high, away from the town but we had a fantastic view over Funchal and the port from our room. Would stay here again but maybe not peak season.

Cons: Our room was a bit chilly and we tried various modes on the controls but couldn't get it right. I think some of this was because of unusually cold weather for the season. We enjoyed watching the basket riders on the road outside the hotel but can imagine in peak season this could be quite disruptive for accessing the hotel.

Pros: The hotel has great facilities, convenient transportation to the city, and an excellent breakfast. The pool was also nice.

Cons: Unfortunately, the spa and sauna experience was very disappointing. We followed the hotel’s instructions and called reception 15 minutes in advance to let them know we were going to use the saunas, but when we arrived, they were still turned off. We had to call reception again, and there was no apology or acknowledgment of the inconvenience. For a hotel that promotes its spa facilities, this level of service was frustrating and fell short of expectations.

Pros: Contemporary feel. Comfortable and good size rooms.

Amazing stay! I can definitely recommend!

Pros: Great views and excellent service - especially Tiago! It was my partner’s birthday which I mentioned at the reception and the team kindly brought 2 glasses of champagne and a birthday cake to our room! The reception team was also very accommodating with our reservation following our 2-day delayed flight which we were very grateful for. The stay was lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed it!

Cons: •\tVery far from the city center •\tThe entrance is right on the street where the local attraction Toboggan Sledge passes constantly by •\tSteep hill to approach •\tThey don’t warm the pool, and the water is very cold!

Pros: Choice was great at breakfast.Food could have been hotter on occasion although not a big problem.Service was great at all times.Hotel was very clean and quiet.Courtesy bus was brilliant.Parking excellent.Dinner was very good.Portions were large(too much for me but not a complaint)

Pros: Beautiful hotel, scenic location, lovely breakfast, attentive and polite staff.

Cons: Nothing.

Pros: We only had one night here but wish we could have stayed more. The room was clean and quiet. Gym/pool/spa were great. Breakfast had plenty of choices. Free shuttle into town was very handy. Would recommend and stay again.
