Fabulous Madeira

Pros: Located in the old town, you could walk to all the attractions, ie... restaurants, wine tasting, the Port etc. There was a Carnival festival on the weekend we arrived, which had music, food & drink cabins & local crafts. There is a fabulous walk from Funchal to Camera de Lobos which is around 9.5 km. Highly recommend as the scenery is just awesome walking by the coast. You can stop off for a bite to eat and a drink on the way. There is also the bus option for those that would prefer to take transport. It can be a challenge in places as there are a few steep hills to climb. Overall it was wonderful.

Bijou Accommodation in the Heart of the Old Town.

Pros: The hotel was more like a private b&b.There was a lift,efficient communication from the staff before, during, and after our stay. The apartment was small but tastefully decorated in a minimal style with spotless linen and a very up to date shower room. The shower was easy to use, but the water was lukewarm early in the morning. We felt it was an e collect base of the town, as you could get to the promenade sea road quickly, and it was surrounded by restaurants of varying prices and quality. We heard next door restaurant, Theos was very good, and we had a great breakfast at Vera Cruz ,a few doors away.

Cons: Despite the owners assurance that taxi drivers could pick us up from the door to go to the airport,we had a bad experience with being dropped off by one driver, and we had to walk to find the hotel, in a warren of back streets and upon our departure,two taxi drivers,were unable to reach us/find us for a trip to the airport. Their problem not the hotel's but we had to deal with it. The frontage of the hotel needs to be more visible signage, and maybe there should be details of landmarks to help the visitor locate more easily in the written info. Just a suggestion.

For the price offered, this was the best choice in Funchal.

Pros: The advantage of the apartment is that it is right in the center, and the room is tidy. Of all the places we stayed, this one was the best in terms of location and value for money.

Cons: A cold bathroom and no hot water in the sink.

The location is great in Funchal. I walked to the sight seeing stuff

Pros: The great location. Close to everything in Funchal.

Cons: It was loud on night. But this was just one night and were other tourists. You get coffee for free. But I would have loved to have a cattle to make tea. I found tea but nothing to heat water.
