Authentic Quinta in Funchal

Pros: This is a super property and a delightful place to stay for the authentic Madeira. We were delighted to be well away from the 'green line' strip of hotels to the west of the city. Large rooms and beds, where the only shortfall is the use of a shower curtain with the bath, rather than a modern glass screen. All staff were super-friendly and there is the added bonus of being able to use the kitchen for drinks, microwave and fridge. The grounds were super and the instructions for arrival with entry codes were simple (there was even a video to show you how to do it). It is an easy walk into town but the hill is a bit of a haul back. However, we made use of the bus service to go down and up. The 2 stops that can be used are very close to the Quinta.

Cons: The breakfast was generally excellent but the cheese/charcuterie was primarily the packet variety. It was similar with the jams where packets were used and they were very poor. It is such a high standard property that its is a pity that these minor defects were notable e.g. it would be very easy to provide a couple of authentic jams and honey, with packets as a back up if guests do not like them

Amazing place to stay

Pros: The quinta is not far from Funchal and restaurants, peaceful and with nice views. The staff is very friendly and responsive by whatsapp. Everything is clean. The beds are so good. Free parking. Breakfast is not extensive, but there is all you need.

Cons: The sunbeds were not well maintained, the cushions were often wet from the rain (and the storage for the cushions was broke). That was the only dissapointment.

Unique stay in renovated mansion house , perfect location.

Pros: Great location 10’ outside centre Funchal. Parking available. Very small 5 rooms. Quiet. Bus stop 2min walk from hotel. Nice terrace with amazing view on the port / sea. Restaurants in the neighborhood (but very very steep uphill walk). You can use kitchen for making tea or coffee- use fridge. Relax sofa with sea view and sunshine was fantastic.

Cons: Breakfast was OK - basic. Beautiful room and comfortable bed but very dark, small window with view on dark shadow side garden. Bathroom not renovated- basic but clean.

Lovely relaxing few days in this comfortable house.

Pros: The house was lovely with amazing views over Funchal. The breakfast was delicious with everything that you could want. Pedro was charming and helpful. The housekeeping was also excellent and the place was spotless.Our bedroom overlooked the garden and sea. It was easy to get into Funchal using an uber.

Cons: We did find the driving difficult and the hill you have to drive up outside the property quite scary. So if you’re a nervous driver I would recommend using taxis. One thing to mention is that the mattress on the bed was not the most comfortable and could maybe use an upgrade.

Pros: Great location: large garden to relax, beautifull view on the sea, city, and mountains beyond.

Cons: Havent been there long enough to notice anything bad.

Perfect remote hideway in Funchal

Pros: Remote, quite location, beautiful garden and view to Funchal, nicely designed interior

Beautiful rooms extremely clean and comfortable. Parking available. Lovely to sit out at night and enjoy the views

Pros: Beautiful property overlooking Funchal away from the hustle bustle but an easy Bolt or bus into centre.

Pros: The room was nice, the garden is very nice with a splendid view over Funchal. The bus stop to Funchal is next door and very convenient. Breakfast is OK, additional eggs can be ordered. Parking space for cars is well arranged,

Cons: Check-in during weekend is a bit impersonal but well explained in a video received by whats-app.

Pros: Kind staff, great location, very nice view of Funchal. The place feels truly pleasant, and the breakfast was delicious. The apartment was really spacious.

Cons: Everything was great.

Peaceful Quinta with beautiful views

Pros: Very clean. Limited number of guests; very private. Fruits available at all times. Beautiful view over Funchal.

Cons: Dogs barking at night in the neighborhood.
