O Cantinho da Mariazinha by Amazing Madeira

Great value for money, great location. The staff make it all worth it !

Pros: The staff, every single one of them. They always had a smile on their faces, were so polite and kind. Extremely helpful. Could not fault them

Cons: If your a light sleeper, the outside noise might be annoying but hey your in the main part of the old town witch is a great location. So it was worth it. Wasnt soo bad anyway

Pros: Nice, renovated building with great historical touch. Greeting to my birthday (they noticed fact and made small surprise). Hospitality.

Cons: Everything was good, read about noise, but it was quite on garden view room.

Pros: Fantastic position, convenient for the sea, old town, transport links. Helpful staff. Loved the wooden floor and tasteful decor. Comfortable bed.

Cons: Just noisy two nights at the weekend for a couple of hours. We were warned about this so not a grumble.

Gorgeous space, great location, and a really welcoming feel. Would definitely stay again.

Pros: The location was perfect, set along the colourful cobbled streets of Rua Santa Maria, where every door is painted as part of an open-air art project. It was also conveniently next door to a lovely bakery. I had a very warm welcome on arrival, and the entrance up the stairs was beautiful, with soft jazz playing in the mornings that created such a relaxing atmosphere. The bedroom was exceptionally clean, I could smell the fresh polish when I walked in and it included English tea, a kettle, and a fridge, towels, shampoo, shower gel, soap and toilet roll. The instructions provided were very clear, and the host’s English was excellent, which made everything even easier. The area had plenty of restaurants, a local Spar, a post box, and the cable cars and marina were only a five-minute walk away. I felt exceptionally safe throughout my stay.

Cons: The only small downside was a bit of noise late at night on the evening the Christmas lights were being switched on, but this was understandable given the event.

Absolutely wonderful small independent hotel with the best staff

Pros: The owners/staff - Caterina (and her sister whose name escapes me - sorry), Veronica and the cleaners were just lovely. All of them were extremely helpful when we needed help navigating the Funchal bus system, looking for my lost phone, etc. The hotel is more spacious than we expected - public areas and the rooms. All areas have great character. The beds were very comfortable and there was a fridge in the room - brilliant for a 2-star (I’ve stayed in less well equipped 4-star hotels).Quiet little private outdoor areas for sitting. Located on a street in the old town with lots of restaurants (that close at a reasonable time so no noise problem) and great craft shops/galleries. Two minute walk from the main cable car to Monte (gardens and basket run).

Cons: Three small things could improve the overall stay/impression: i) a little more variety at breakfast ii) tidying up of bits of painted woodwork on doorframes iii) replacing the chipped bath. We want to make it clear that none of these things marred our stay and if we were to return to Funchal, we would happily book O Cantinho da Mariazinha again.

Pros: Perfect location in the heart of historic centre. Staff brilliant. Breakfast good. Loved it all.

Cons: Could have done with a little more choice for breakfast. The shower could do to be updated. Ended up with a pool of water on bathroom floor every time we used it.

Pros: The location in the Old Town is excellent, very close to restaurants and bars. The accommodation is very comfortable and exceptionally clean and the staff were helpful and friendly.1

Cons: At night time could be noisy outside but this didn't bother us.

Cons: Breafast was the same everyday.bit of change would have been good, especially with excellent bakery next door. There was bit noise from bakery starting work early hours morning.
