Great for the price
Pros: Great location - right in the centre, walkable to the bay area within 15minutes, snack bars and shops all around. Nice room - we had a triple room for 2 people, tho the beds were a little small, the room itself were quite large and we had a balcony space which was a nice sun trap throughout the day. Workable shower with good pressure, heat and body wash. Value for money - by far the most affordable stay in funchal for the price. Comfy beds - daily housekeeping to the room, where rubbish was taken out and beds were remade.
Cons: There were no kettle or fridge in the room - but there was access to these amenities in the shared kitchen. It was quite loud - you could hear other guests easily, but when we did complain the staff quicky rectified it.

Another amazing stay
Pros: This was our third stay at this place and we were very satisfied as always. Great room, with a terrace, very clean (cleaned every day). Excellent WiFi. Excellent location. Amazingly friendly staff.

Exceptional value for money
Pros: Our stay at Hostel Monaco was excellent! Our room was top quality, even better than we was expecting based on the description. We had our own private rooms with a TV, bathroom and kitchen which also had a washing machine, so had more than enough to live happily for the week in. We were very impressed by the facilities provided considering the description of the room and the amount we paid for it! The location is awesome, in the middle of Funchal so has loads of shops and restaurants right on your doorstep. The beach was less than a 5 minute walk away too.
Cons: Payment was taken on the day of arrival, which was frustrating to deal with issues with that whilst trying to navigate our flight. The staff seemed a little short-tempered when we first arrived, but perhaps this was due to a language barrier issue.

Perfect for a short term stay in Funchal :)
Pros: We stayed just for a night. The hostel is close to the city centre and we used the kitchen which is perfect to make a snack and have breakfast. Communication before and at sight was friendly. The room had a small bathroom and even a balcony.
Cons: There is a permanent air current which didnt bother us, because it was quite sunny. With bad weather could be less cozy.

Pros: Brilliant location, just a 6 minute walk from the promenade. Were able to leave our bags there until we left later in the day.
Cons: Not the biggest room but was absolutely fine for us who were only there to sleep.

happy
Pros: My needs are minimal: cheap, safe, centrally located, warm. I had enough of everything. The hotel is minimalist, a bit old-fashioned. But everything is ok for me. There is wifi, towels, toilet paper, a small TV and a self-catering kitchen - you can do it yourself. Private toilets with a bathtub. Basically - I am satisfied.
Cons: I didn't like the self-check-in process.I arrived - there is no one, no staff, no receptionist. I had to wait a long time and call. by phone Only when I called, they said the code to get inside. I went in, everything is ok. But I am dissatisfied with such a check-in policy, when I called, they said that a code was sent to me in the booking system. But I do not use the booking app, and for security reasons I use another email for the booking system to register. and when I arrive I need to know that I have to read where the email code is....
