Hostel Casal São João

Pros: Great view,friendly and helpful family,everything you need.

Pros: It was the cheapest hostel I found, nice location. Beds are not super comfortable, but for it's value I recommend to stay a few days in here. You have beautiful view and nice stuff over there.

Cons: Once I didn't had warm water, but after one hour it was ok :)

Pros: The room has a kithen, bathroom and view to the ocean

Pros: Located on the hill, great view from above, pretty sunsets, nice facilities, rooftop terrace, lovely staff and cute cats :)

Cons: Shared bedrooms and bathrooms and kitchen -> not always 100% clean but that’s what you have to expect in hostel ;)

Great experience

Pros: Hostel has cool balcony with great view. Host was really nice and helpful. Bed was comfortable. There were few parking slots on the street. Place has family vibe which is nice. You can meet a lot of cool people.

Cons: Roads are quite difficult.

Cons: Getting there without a car would be a mess as there are not really good bus services. Kitchen could have been better

Cons: If you have car then its perfect but if you don’t have car then you have to book Bolt otherwise you can’t reach there.

Pros: Our stay was great! The host was very friendly, providing detailed information also about the surroundings and places we can visit. We forgot something in the house and he immediately called me and found a solution for us getting our tings back.

One night stay in Ribeira Brava

Pros: Really helpful and friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere in the hostel and a great place to meet other travellers. The kitchen was well equipped. I think you'd struggle to find somewhere else as nice as this for the price! Fantastic view of the sunset!

Cons: The bathroom had a small amount of mould but it wasn't an issue for me.

Don’t expect it to be a super nice and new hostel while booking the cheapest place on the island. The place could use so

Pros: Helder and his mom were very nice and helpful. It’s definitely the cheapest place on the island you can find. There are 3 bathrooms, so one was always available. All rooms are for 2 people max.

Cons: The location is quite difficult to get to if you don’t have a car and are on a budget and avoid taxis. There is a very steep road up to the hostel from the main station where bus 7 from Funchal (Rodoeste company) stops but a few times day you can catch another bus 7 (direction Furna) that will take you to the hostel’s doorstep. Need to let the bus driver in Funchal know about it tho.
