Don't eat anywhere else!

Pros: Amazing restaurant - breakfast and evening meals - I felt like a restaurant critic every evening - and had I been, my review each time would have been off the scale! Beautifully simple and understated rooms and stunning views. Uber friendly and attentive staff.

Well worth it for the food!

Pros: Very much a foodie place! Breakfast was wonderful (very different from other places on Madeira) and the dinner options were very good - cooked appropriately, well presented, and varied. We enjoyed the included afternoon tea and homemade cake too! The views from the bedroom box window seats and from the outside terraces. The modern, almost Scandi-style.

Cons: Our room was a bit small (not much room to lay anything and the wardrobe was in the 'kitchen'). One of the otherwise wonderful waiters was a bit 'in your face' and not very relaxing to be around. We also received completely contrary responses from him about whether we were or weren't able to have just a glass of various wines (which his colleagues had happily served us the previous evening). The last section of road up and the parking area are a bit narrow for easy manouvering (but it is Madeira!).

Pros: All was good, the place is very esthetic and beautiful but not sure it justifies the price.

Breathtaking views from somewhere a bit special

Pros: Breathtaking views from wonderful window seats and bed. Very peaceful and beautiful terraced location with vineyards and crops on site Excellent breakfast Very warm welcome with wine and mini tour of complex from lovely staff Music speaker was a surprise bonus Architecture and building materials Self-sufficiency ethos Robes

Cons: The only disappointment during the stay was the water wasn't hot enough for a shower on arrival. We called reception who sent someone to check, but we had to wait for it to heat up. It was a cool wet day in January after a long hike, and we just wanted to jump straight into a hot shower. A few more hooks to hang clothes would have been welcome Air conditioning was a bit noisy As others have mentioned, parking was a bit scary with steep slopes and tight corners.

Pros: The food is exceptional. Staff is very kind especially Edgar and Nirmal! They were very caring, attentive, and made sure nothing was ever missing. Their professionalism and kindness made my experience truly comfortable and pleasant.

Pros: A wonderful place to relax in Madeira. The property is beautifully located, the staff is incredibly friendly, and the views from the room are fantastic. The food is excellent: both breakfast and dinner. The dishes are beautifully presented and very tasty. The rooms are nicely decorated and offer plenty of privacy. We highly recommend it!

Cons: A high climb, but only the first time ;)

Pros: Beautiful views and a strong connection to nature, especially from the rooms with large windows. The eco-style design is simple and calming. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, and the food was excellent — very good breakfast and an interesting, creative restaurant. The atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing.

Cons: Nothing — everything met or exceeded my expectations.

Great Escape

Pros: - Fantastic views from huge windows - Great breakfast - Afternoon tea on the terrace - Tasty dinners

Cons: - Parking / steep road access - Need to drive to access most walks

It feels like home, very cozy and you don’t even want to leave

Pros: Everything about the hotel is wonderful! The location, the view, the staff, the rooms, as well as the excellent restaurant that uses only local products in its cooking.

Cons: Daily housekeeping could be more thorough, but overall there were no negative impressions.
