Amazing deluxe relaxation experience

Pros: Amazing views from the Infinity pool area, great outdoor restaurant, very friendly staff, wonderful food and very comfy room and terrace; cheap shuttle to and from Funchal every day, beach bar and close to Calheta beach

Great hotel but a bit dark.

Pros: This is a top quality hotel in a great location. It is very relaxing with lots of nooks and crannies to escape to where you can take in the sun or swim. There are many options for food and drink. Service is very good. There is a beach club, over the road, with recliners and beds and a beach bar. The Alambiqué restaurant is a higher end facility serving great food. The Trapiche outdoor restaurant is a great experience, as is the Fly Lounge for sundowners and light bites.

Cons: Whilst the interior design is good with many references to the sugar cane industry, it is very dark in places. This is off-putting and detracts from the overall experience.
