nice cosy hotel,
Pros: HOTEL it is a small cosy hotel with lovely garden views on the ocean and area (since there are tunnels, you are not disturbed by traffic very much and it is a rather quiet place) when you enter the hotel you have a wonderful hallway we loved the pool area, though it is not very big, well placed with views, water does not smell by chlore which is great. ROOM 19 (2nd room we had) was very spacious and lovely, I liked the white decor, it gives and extra impression of the cleaniness FOOD breakfasts were wonderful, no complain about, the contrary. I liked very much the fresh fruits we had a half-boad so the dinners were included. rather nice food of 3 courses. my son did not eat everything they erew willing in the kitchen to alternate food for him, even though they had pre-prepared stuff (they cooked extra plain pasta for him when he did not like the sauce) you can have your breakfast/dinners seated outside, that is very nice!
Cons: HOTEL Hotel is a bit remote from interest places there is a bad smell in the entry area which spoils your impression. it should absolutely get treated. The walls , isolation is not the best. you hear in the room everything happenning in the hall area, almost every step. that is regrettable ROOM: when we arrived we got a room 19 which is a corner roof room on the second floor with a limited space and cut of edges. really tine. and I am claustrophobic. I did not like the bedroom at all, . We were to stay 5 nights in this room that was not acceptable for me. the bed was very narrow. the sink did not work properly and the shower smelled I talked to the reception they were willing to upgrade us 2 nights later to another room that would liberate (should I mention no one came to make our bed after the first night? someone came to pick up rubbish though, so probably we were not the only one disliking the room, also the cleaning lady did not like it), After 2 nights spending there, we moved to the room 8 on the first floor which was very lovely, contrary to 19. RESTAURANT I found the time slots of the breakfasts too limited: only till 9h30 and the dinners too early ending :18h30-20h30. since the hotel is rather remote and you need good 30-40 mins to go/return from somewhere when you explore Madeira, this limits you, so if we come back, we will not take halfboard anymore, we would allow ourself the freedom not to feel a time preassure when we travel At least half of the times, even though we came earlier then other quests (me and my boy) we were served later then the other quests. Worst was the first night, we were the first ones at the dinner at the table and were served amongst the latter thought I told the staff nicely twice that my boy is very hungry if they could hurry. I can only hope that this was just a coincidence and not and uneven treatment for a single mum travelling with a child. (which happens!),

Relaxing one night stay but mediocre food
Pros: Our room was located in a separate building with its own terrace and nice sea views in the middle of a garden. Everything was clean and the location was calm and peaceful. The pool was nice and not too crowded.
Cons: We would have enjoyed our stay more if it hadn’t included the half board. Bread and other items at breakfast felt industrial and the dishes at dinner were not well prepared. On a positive note, I got a much better version of the main dish after pointing out some obvious mistakes.

Amazing hotel with a family atmosphere
Pros: Everything was fantastic. From the moment we arrived the reception was friendly and welcoming. The owner is always present to chat and ask about your wellbeing. We loved our room with a terrace. The breakfasts and dinner were great and staff were always smiling and friendly. I celebrated my birthday and everyone was so lovely. Special thanks to our waitress and the bar staff who were always so friendly and cheerful. Walks from the hotel down to Calheta or up to the Levada are amazing. We will definitely return. Thank you!

Pros: Totally recommend it. Very friendly personal. They always tried to do their best. My girlfriend was sick and they also asked if she wants something like soup or tea and brought the meals up to our room. If you want to start a hike very early they will prepare a breakfast bag for you. For dinner you can always choose your meal (halfboard) and there is always 1 vegeterian option. The hotel acts very sustainable.
