Hotel Porto Mare - PortoBay

Pros: We both liked the setting surrounded by palm trees and lots of green space.

Pros: Lovely hotel, very clean, comfortable. Everything you could wish for at breakfast. Very helpful staff.

Great stay

Pros: Very clean and friendly staffs always with smile. Great facility, awesome breakfast, car parking and perfect location with big rooms with balcony. Outdoor and indoor pool with jacuzzi bath.

Cons: Room wasn't ready so cleaner had to rush to prepare our room. Even chkein was at 2pm it was not ready when arrived whereas we had to checkout before 12am on the day.

Absolutely wonderful.

Pros: Breakfast was fantastic. Everything you could wish for. Amazing selection fresh fruit salads cooked breakfast. Dinner was the same, starters really fantastic as was Dessert. Main course a little lacking especially in the quality of meat & fish but they just dont get the same quality in Madeira as we do. Excellent selection of food and everything else top quality

Cons: Little niggle.. Water wasnt boiling for the Tea in the morning. It was put into flasks but by the time it was served it was tepid.

You feel so welcome and you enjoy a green oasis with pools and space.

Pros: Very nice and friendly staff, clean and light environment, fantastic garden with large pool both a warm one and a cold one. Also there is an indoor pool. Very nice restaurant for a fantastic breakfast. Other restaurants very close to the hotel.

Cons: Really, I cannot find anything I would like to be improved.

Pros: Excellent hotel. Very clean in all areas and really well looked after. Excellent breakfast spread. Great facilities. Would highly recommend.

Cons: Couple of things could have been better explained at check-in. We weren’t told pool towels were in rooms, so walked to indoor pool asked about towels and were told we had to go back to rooms to get them. Not told WiFi code not even sure if was free or not, didn’t go back to reception to ask. Would also much prefer if sauna and steam room were able to be accessible from pool area rather than separate.

Fabulous hotel

Pros: Fantastic location and a very comfortable hotel. Food is lovely with a good variety. Staff are very helpful.

Cons: Drinks are expensive but happy hour is good value.

Great Stay Overall, Despite a Warm Room

Pros: Really nice grounds and a good location. We enjoyed our spacious room, and the majority of the staff were lovely – especially the breakfast staff and the bar staff in the Portofino Bar, who were very attentive. Happy hour at the bar was great, with really nice cocktails and mocktails. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and couldn’t fault the breakfast buffet at all. Housekeeping were great, and the in-room amenities were a nice touch, including bathrobes, slippers, and Rituals products in the bathroom.

Cons: The room was very warm and the air conditioning didn’t work properly, as it didn’t cool the room down at all. When we mentioned this at reception, the lady we spoke to was quite rude and dismissive. She kept questioning whether we’d closed the terrace doors properly and continued to doubt us even after we confirmed we had. Her tone was very condescending. She said someone would come to check it, but no one ever did. This may have been because the air conditioning isn’t on full power during the winter months, but the room was still really warm and uncomfortable to sleep in. We ended up having to sleep with the terrace door slightly open just to get some fresh air.

Pros: The pool areas were lovely, the room was a good size

Cons: The parking was charged because there weren’t enough spaces outside the hotel.

Pros: Nice big rooms, lots of activities on the hotel, excellent breakfast. Nicd location
