The food was delicious in the restaurants especially the Duck dish

Pros: It was well located but I wasn’t expecting the very steep hill back from the restaurants.

Cons: We went off season so the pool was cold

Lovely traditional hotel with stunning views and professional and attentive staff.

Pros: Beautiful old hotel, full of character and with stunning views over Funchal and the sea. Swimming pool and other facilities. Lovely meals in the dining-room, served by attentive and professional staff. Tip: if arriving from the airport, take taxi rather than shuttle bus, as the hotel is situated up a hill.

Cons: Nothing could have been better.

Lovely Hotel

Pros: Good location with sea views near to sea front and town. The hotel had character and had a very relaxing feeling about it. Breakfast buffer had a good range. Staff very helpful and cheerful.

Cons: The bathroom sink tap leaked and bath waste plug didn't fit so you couldn't have a bath.

Pros: Great hotel, I loved staying here. Only short 5-10 min walk from centre, with just a slight incline. Staff were very nice & breakfast was lovely

Cons: Like a lot of Portuguese accommodation, the 1 free socket in the room is never where you need it, first world problems. Oh and there was some fiddly remote control to turn on the electricity, which sometimes worked first time, but more often didn't.

Pros: Within walking distance of the old town, close to cable car and nice restaurants

Cons: Noisy bar at the bottom of the road, needed to use earplugs then not a problem

Very pleasant classic hotel in beautiful environment and great views to garden, pool, seas and city

Pros: the location is perfect in quite area at walking distance of the crowded city centre with nice sea and city views. Classic ( not fancy) hotel incl complete and very tasty breakfast

Pros: nice location , very friendly stuff , rooms are big ,comfortable for period of 4/7 days stay over . Reception always there to offer best support in any problems . Parking inside hotel for rent car also is an advantage.

Cons: Internet signal / Wi Fi is not stable , used mobile 4/5g all the time . Breakfast was all the same all 4 days, no any changes in menu. No fish food even those we are in the middle of the ocean . Fitness club in hotel works 9.00-18.00 or so ..... it has Sauna and Hammam . But with such working hrs it's impossible to get there . I do morning exercises before breakfast , usually fitness rooms are open from 6-7 am , but not 9.00 . at 9 we already finished breakfast and ride explore Island . And this Fitness center closes 18.00 ??? so after long road , outside hotel , u back around 22/23.00 and you would love to go Sauna , but , its not possible its closed . Pool also opens 9.30 or so ,,,, again means u cant swim prior breakfast , as pool is closed . Not sure whose schedule its suits .

Amazing hotel with such kind staff

Pros: Everything. The location, parking and facilities were all excellent. The staff were so kind as well. Can not recommend this hotel enough.

Cons: Furnishings a little dated. But the view makes up for it

Cons: The gym, sauna were uninviting. Very poor for s 4star hotel
