Pros: The surroundings and accommodation were simply breathtaking. Dioclécio, the host, was extremely friendly and always concerned about our well-being. A special highlight were the cute donkeys that we immediately fell in love with. We would come back at any time.

Pros: The Mountain Eco Shelter is such a charming place that you'd be wrong not to sleep here during your stay in Madeira. You feel perfectly safe and surrounded by nature. The shelter is very comfortable (the kitchen is well equipped, the bathroom is perfect and beautiful, the bed is very comfortable), the terrace offers a breathtaking view of the mountains and the valley of Funchal with the sea, we really enjoyed eating outside with this view. The shelters are located in the Funchal Ecological Park, which gives them a special flavor: you feel right at home in nature, and there are hiking trails from the park. Unfortunately, we stayed during the August 2024 fires and were therefore unable to do some of the hikes, but this didn't spoil our stay and the host was very reassuring and informative about the fire. Many thanks to the team for this.

Cons: We think a window in the attic could have been useful for ventilation and we were a little sad to have to close the curtains to avoid the heat during the day (but that is exceptional because we stayed during a heat wave). A few deckchairs on the patio could have been nice for relaxing or reading a book in the sun. Similarly, it would be preferable to have several garbage cans instead of just one.

A great place to slow down and relax!

Pros: - The shelter was nicely decorated, loved the kitchen! - Very clean and the park is very well maintained. - Our host was super helpful and friendly. - The location of the park is amazing, you can really get some rest and chill out. - Bed is very comfortable. - Cozy restaurant at walking distance. Overall a perfect experience, would love to come back!

Cons: Small points of feedback: - Some comfy chairs on the deck of the shelter for reading a book would have been great. - A window in the attic would help with ventilation. - Multiple smaller trashcans (2 or 3) instead of 1 big trash can for trash separation. - A bug screen for the kitchen window.

Cozy house in a beautiful mountain environment

Pros: The location, the accomodation, nature.. everything was amazing. The house is well equipped, the views are stunning, and there is quiet and calmness all around.

Cons: We knew in advance that there is no internet / cell coverage, but I’d recommend to prepare for that if you plan a longer stay.

Pros: The property is very remote, very quiet. This is what we were looking for so we were very happy. They built these shelters without disrupting the nature too much which we also appreciate. Also you can start your hike directly from the property. Dioclecio made us feel comfortable and was very kind and helpful.

Absolutely perfect

Pros: We had the most wonderful stay at the Mountain Eco Shelter. The location is beautiful - the lodges are in a beautiful Ecological Park full of plants and flowers. You can do hikes directly from the lodges. The lodges themselves have everything you need - a great kitchen, a comfortable bed and a balcony with a stunning view. The staff here are really friendly and helpful. There’s even a snackbar down the road where you can grab dinner & drinks. We loved every minute of our stay here and we are already planning to come back again.

Stylische Holzhütte mitten in der Natur

Pros: Die Mountain Eco Shelters sind wie ein kleines Blockhüttendorf angeordnet und wunderbar gelegen im Parque Ecologico do Funchal. Zwischen den Hütten besteht ausreichend Platz, so dass man viel Ruhe und Privatsphäre hat. Wir haben den Blick aus unserer Hütte direkt auf Bäume und in die Natur sehr genossen. Die Hütten sind sehr schön und mit Liebe fürs Detail eingerichtet. Das Bett war bequem. Auch die Küchenzeile war gut ausgestattet. Dioclecio, der Verwalter der Moutain Eco Shelters, war sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit und jederzeit gut erreichbar. Wir haben uns hier sehr wohl gefühlt und würden wiederkommen.

Cons: Auf der Wohn-Ebene unten fehlten Ablage- bzw. Aufhängemöglichkeiten für Jacken und Gepäck. Auch im Küchenbereich wären Haken für die Handtücher optimal gewesen. Leider ist das gesamte Dorf abends ziemlich hell ausgeleuchtet. Wir hatten uns auf den Sternenhimmel gefreut. Dass sich direkt vor unserer Hütte eine der hellen Außenlampen befanden, störte uns beim Sternegucken sehr. - Nur als Ergänzung, außerhalb unserer Bewertung: Zu der Zeit, als wir dort waren (Ende August) war es ab dem späten Nachmittag und auch in der Nacht extrem windig und somit dann auch kalt.

Wir würden jederzeit wieder kommen!

Pros: Mitten in der Natur, toller Ausgangspunkt für viele Wanderungen. Süße Holzhütte mit hochwertiger Ausstattung und tollen Fernblick.

Pros: Pure nature, no internet, great little cottage, warm shower and aircon

Cons: The wind in the night might disturb your sleep as it hits the cottage roof and creates some sound.

Einfach schön!

Pros: Die gesamte Abwicklung durch den Manager Dioclécio war hervorragend. Im Vorfeld wurde die Anfahrt bestens beschrieben und auch die Ankunft war überaus herzlich. Die Hütte verfügt über alles, was man benötigt. In der nahegelegenen Snackbar kann man nach den Wanderungen gemütliche Abende verbringen. Ein wunderbarer Ort um abzuschalten, zu wandern und Ruhe zu haben.

Cons: Eine gemütliche Bank vor der Hütte wäre perfekt.
