Pestana Miramar Garden & Ocean Hotel

Great hotel with pool, gardens and a pleasant walk into Funchal centre

Pros: Great location and facilities - good food and dining options.

Cons: The gym equipment is very tired and needs updating.

Comfortable stay in a central location in Funchal

Pros: Central location opposite the famous Reid Hotel. In particular the old part of the hotel and the rooms are beautiful. The staff is very accommodating.

Cons: Mostly visitors from travel agencies such as TUI, etc., very little privacy at breakfast and dinner buffet.

Pros: Great established beautiful hotel and location. Choice of pools. Jacuzzi. Sauna. Massage. Indoor pool. Great food and staff. Spotlessly clean. Great location in funchal. Beautiful gardens.

Cons: No tea or coffee or water provided complimentary in room. No shaving mirror in bathroom tricky sorting contacts in eyes a doing make up. Phone by bed didnt work.

Pros: We had a lovely 1 night stay here with half pension and a lot of support from Fransisco Coelho with guidance not only about hotel but also what to do in madeira on that day.

Cons: Indoor pool is cold, jacuzzi wasn’t on and had no bubbles. In general indoor facility is old

An Oasis of Calm

Pros: A very well designed hotel with beautiful spaces and swimming pools to relax. The food carefully prepared and delicious. Enjoyed every minute of our 1 week stay.

Cons: Our bedroom was very comfortable with a balcony and view of the mountains. The bathroom had some wear and tare, but overall satisfactory

Fantastic dream hotel with excellent pools, spa, staff, food and QUIET!

Pros: Fantastic pools to swim, outdoor and indoor, also spa, jacuzzis, sauna, steam. Very good location, relatively close to city center. Very quiet, no road traffic noise - this is very rare in Funchal! Nice restaurants with various food options. VEry friendly reception and staff - they allowed us to stay in the pool and spa even after checkout, on the last day! Beautiful garden, plans, palm trees, and grass - nice sunbeds around the two pools. Very relaxing place. Strongly recommended!

Cons: We did not like that we have to pay for all the drinks at the prepaid buffet dinner, even for some water (5 EUR!). It would have been cheaper to eat out elsewhere (there are quite a few restaurants within 100 meters!) and even opt in for the dinner at the hotel on the spot would be the same price. Thus, prepaid half board is not necessarily a good idea - not even mentioning over-eating ourselves at the nice buffet... :) but the food was excellent, no question about it.

I very enjoyable 2 night stay at the Miramar

Pros: I liked my room. The food was good in both buffet and a la carte restaurants. The staff in the restaurants were very helpful.

Cons: I personally don’t like booking and looking up information on qr codes. It’s also confusing when you first arrive to know which restaurant options are available. To travel to Pestana. Grand at 25 mins walk or taxi seems ridiculous

Pros: I would like to thank everyone at Pestana Miramar Garden & Ocean Hotel for making my holiday so special. Extra big thank you to Sophia at reception , Lucia and Hamsa at the pool bar who all made me and my partner feel really special.

Cons: The fact I don't live there !

Pros: Good breakfast and the dinner. The garden is also beautiful and well maintained.

Pros: Service - perfect, halfboard - food was excelent, location - close to city, nice swimingpools... Everything was great, perfect for family.
